Golf Monthly Society Day

I have had a number of PM's and messages on the board asking for a game at Royal Ascot and so I am prepared to organise a GM Society day. I'm waiting for the club to send me a society pack but they have said as it is GM and I'm a member that they would hold 2008 prices for us.

Before I go ahead I'd need to know numbers. It would be midweek (Tues-Thursday possibly a Friday) and I'm looking late April/Early May. If you are interested let me know. Maybe we can start a regular event around the country on a quarterly or six month basis. For those looking at transport/accommodation, there are three Travellodges in Bracknell (£10 max taxi ride to the course) or a number of good B&B's in Ascot and Bracknell. It is close to M3 and M4

What are the rulings on us lowly muni players without official handicap cards?

I'm starting to wear the wife down and getting to play more, this is just the kind of event I'd love to schedule into my calendar and widen my golfing experience.

I'm pretty sure that providing you play to a decent standard (e.g. you are aware of the etiquette and the rules) there won't be a huge problem. You are obviously a keen golfer so as long as you were realistic in what handicap you declared (no bandits allowed) we can sort something out

Local knowledge ..............I played the course twice, and that must have been about 20 years ago. I've been down in Devon for the past 15 years....Now if you said the downshire, thats more like it, I used to play that most weeks.
