Hi all

our biggest ever reader survey is now live - please do take the 6 mins it takes to complete as your views will really help me decide what goes in GM and on the website going forward

By way of a small incentive we're offering a share of £3000 worth of golf gear including gift vouchers to spend at american golf and 5 Nike Sasquatch drivers for a selection of respondents drawn from that hat

Why, in these surveys, do they ALWAYS ask you how much you earn? It really annoys me. I'm always embarrased when I have to ask them to raise the upper limit option they have. ;)

Is this a scam? -just realised you dont need to be signed in to complete this survey and at no stage do you give your name or email so how do they know who to contact to give out these so called 'prizes' ????
I suspect they are gaining market research anonymously.

Hope I haven't just blown a new set of Mizunos!

Hello all

I can assure you this is not a scam!

I personally drew up all the magazine and website related questions because I really value your opinions as the readers of GM and users of the website.

Things that you say you like, you'll get more of, things you say you don't like I'll seriously consider reducing or dropping altogether.

I do realise it takes time to fill in the survey so by way of a small incentive to give up 6 minutes of your time we have sourced some decent prizes.

Regarding the personal questions regarding age, where you live and income - my apologies for making you answer them but it helps get a good profile of our readers and I can personally assure you that information and of course your email address is never sold on to a third party so six months down the line you wont get direct mail from companies selling viagra, indoor jacuzzis or life insurance!

all the best

Apologies, you are actually prompted for contact details, my browser didn't forward to that part. Better try again!

If you are responsible for putting this survey together then before you do another make sure that the check-box questions at the end are either all opt in or all opt out - not a mixture.

I've ticked to say that I don't want to be contacted by email, yet the survey insists that I give my email address. Why?

Hi all

I have checked with our database department on the tick boxes and email opt in queries

Re the tick boxes we are following guidelines under the Data Protection Act with regard to the wording and options to opt in or out of things

Re entering your email - again this is a standard box we need to put on the questionnaire so you can be contacted in the event of your name being drawn from the list of entries to win one of the prizes. We WILL NOT email you for any other reason if you have opted out of receiving Golf Monthly email newsletters.

You can of course put in a fake email address – just don’t expect to get the email informing you that you have won a Nike driver or a set of Wilson clubs!

Hope that helps clarify everything

Cheers

I completed the questionaire but I didn't complete the rest of it because I didn't want to give my email address. No chance of me winning.
