...will be held at Beau Desert Golf Club in Staffordshire (http://www.bdgc.co.uk) so well done to all those who guessed correctly!

As many forumers have said, Beau is a superb heathland track and we consider it to be a genuine contender for a spot in the Top 100 Uk and Irish Courses.

Its also well located, 10 minutes off the top of the M6 Toll Road

Tee times will be from 10am on the day and we are looking at a maximum field of 60.

I am still doing final negotiations on price but it will be NO MORE than £50 for 18 holes plus food before and after.

Format will be individual stableford (3 categories) with a possible team competition running in parallel.

I am also looking to get on board some support from the golf industry to ensure some good prizes.

There will be a big GM staff turnout and the usual major coverage in the magazine and online

Please register your interest by sending me and email michael_harris@ipcmedia.com

One the price has been finalised I will need cheques for the full ammount to secure a place in what I hope will be a really good fun day on a top course

Sounds like it will be a great day Mike.

Sadly, due to my advanced years I am not allowed to travel on my own so far nowdays and Nursey is on holiday that week. :( :D :D

One question before I say I am in.

The "food after" section, it appears to be a fairly snooty club, will golf attire be fine all day, or will they insist on suited and booted?

Email sent as rquested Michael.
As some one who lives down the road in Wolverhampton I will be there

Nowt wrong with a quick shower after a game and jacket and tie afterwards.

Leaves you smelling a tad sweeter perhaps ? :D :D
If I go and end up an early starter, then I'll head for the shower.

However there is plenty wrong with snooty clubs that expect jacket and tie to be worn, in which case I'd be out.

Mike, I'm referring to this: http://bdgc.co.uk/visitor_dress_codes.asp

Club Dining Room : A jacket and tie (appropriate attire for ladies) should be worn in the Dining Room after 8.00pm unless previous agreement has been given by the Club Secretary / Manager.

So I guess it is only if you intend using the club dining room and from this late, which I imagine you won't be?

I have never understood why someone would give up the chance to play a great track just because they might need to wear a tie afterwards. This would really limit the number and quality of the courses you might play.

Hello.
Obviously Mike will come back with the official ruling on this one, but a group of us played there last year, which I might add included Smiffy, and a friendlier place you could not wish for, not a snoot insite, and we were all allowed upstairs. :o :o :D

Well done to the team.
was not realy hard to guess where, looking forward to this one.
Now on the centenery theme 100 balls, 100 tees, what about 100 magic moments of golf?
Tiger up and down from the bunker at the masters.
any ideas.

Not in Scotland it wouldn't. Seems to be an English thing, and frankly I'm not interested in dragging a suit and tie along for a game of golf. We're not at the office, we're in our leisure time.

Our club expects suited and booted for the bi-monthly presentation evenings, I can accept that, suit & tie are expected for end of season league finals day at whichever club hosts the finals, I can accept that also, as it's one offs for a different reason.

But turning up for a game of golf, then changing into a suit. Nae chance min.

p.s. Thanks teegirl, we'll probably be fine then. :D

Mike, put me down, I've emailed you as requested and am looking forward to it as it will be my first meet. Happy with the local venue too! :)
