As previously been out of the game for a while well around 10 years.

Got myself a new set of sticks(as the kids would say), which im very happy with.

My question is im going to sort some lessons out, do you think I would be better to do a morning or a day even or 30-60minute lessons over a few weeks.

Theres a very good golf academy up the road from me or I was even thinking of doing a morning with Neil down at mid sussex.

Which will make me a scratch player the quickest. :)

well the 30-60 minute lessons spanning across a few weeks is definately the best. not only do you get time to practise what you have learnt you can also improve one thing at a time which is the most important thing of all.
i had fortnightly lessons at total of 6 of them and at first i was scoring +40 now i am scoring +13 a major improvement. GOOD LUCK

At times i've found that 30min lessons aren't enough so i would have a 60min lesson every 10 days or so to try and practice what you've been told out on the course.

Good luck tho pal

How wealthy / serious are you.

If time and money are no object then I'd definately go for a lesson with Neil. If you get on with him face to face, then something between a series of one hour lessons or, maybe this

If you might possibly be willing to accept anything less than scratch, then any local pro who you get on with, and more importantly, who can get his ideas into your head, will improve you hugely.

In the past I've had my best improvement when I've had a long term relationship with a local guy that I can get lessons with when I need them, but can also just pop in and have a quick chat with when I just need a pointer.

At the moment, however, the money I keep on putting aside keep on getting swallowed up in bills, so I'm trying to find some kind of way to post my swing on the forum here - some of the advice is almost as good as being face to face, I reckon.

I received an email back from my local range and they do a half day clinic.

It costs £150, you get a three hour lesson,2xinternet lessons, video analysis and a cd of your swing to take away with you.

I think im going to go with this initially then have some individual lessons every couple of weeks.

The coaches Gary Edwin and Luke Ringrose seem very good and plus its only up the road from me.

Let you know how I get on.

I think its best to have just 1 or 2 swing thoughts at a time on the course so personally i go for lessons once every 3 weeks, and make sure I play / practice regularly. Hammering the lessons in the short term didnt improve my game as i struggled to take all the information on the course with me.

However, what works for one person may not work for another so good luck whatever you decide !!

I always have an hour lesson as I find that it is too rushed otherwise for the pro to explain the faults, given me the drills and we have worked on the fix.

My coach is great. He will break down the problems on camera and we'll go through the video and he'll explain what is wrong and what he wants to change. He'll only ever change two things maximum per lesson or one if its a major problem. We'll go out and work on some drills until we can see an improvement and he'll film the new swing. By the time I'm home they'll be an e-mail with the before and after with relevant lines or markings to highlight key issues and a brief synopsis of the lesson and what needs to be practiced.

GL with this, but it seems a tad expensive to me.

I don't know what you'd get from an internet lesson, but many pros nowadays will do you video lessons at no extra cost. £150 for 3 hours works out at £25 per half hour.

My local pros charge between £16 - £23 per half hour, and Neil will do you half a day for £120, or £50 an hour.

But I'm just a grumpy old cynical old Hector, so maybe you'd best just ignore me.
