Do you prefer to be taught the perfect swing, or the swing that suits you as an individual? Just had a lesson and the Pro was clearly trying to 'tailor' my swing for best results, probably still look like a wild axeman, but probably goes straighter.

My swing is unique and definitely not textbook. It never will be and my teaching pro knows this and is working with certain deeply ingrained faults to manufacture the best swing with what I have. We made a few big changes over the winter but it is starting to come, although I did have a big dip a few weeks ago and had the round golfing retirement is made of. Since then I've had a quick lesson, hit some balls and feel I am hitting it better again.

It is my swing and I am proud of it. It is a work in progress but I am still confident it has enough in it to get me to single figures. Lessons are a two way street and your pro has to be good enough to work with what you have and what you want

I'm not convinced you could learn the perfect swing all at once, I think you have to do it in stages. I would prefer to work to an ultimate goal of a professional swing not just one to get me round. Everyone is different though.

When I say perfect swing, I guess what i'm saying is; would you prefer to go round low and look like an axeman, or, Look great and have a 'slightly' higher score!!

Looking like an axeman for sure! What's the point in a good looking swing if you score worse with it???
