Hi I'm after some advice from people who have had lessons in and around Newcastle.

I'm tired of the inconsistency in my game so want to get some lessons to get it sorted.
My plan is to get some lessons over the next couple of months then have range sessions over the winter to groove any changes in.

Does anyone have any recommendations on who is good to use up near Newcastle please?

Depending on how far you want to travel but from my own experience David Clark at Morpeth is very good, very laid back, doesn't over complicate and will pitch it at your level, whatever that is. If you are happy to travel further then David Mather at Foxton, Alnmouth GC, is excellent and has all the techie stuff if you like that. He also has an indoor studio so if the weather is bad it does not matter.

If you don't want to travel far though, David at Morpeth would be my tip. (I'm not a member there by the way but I have used him for lessons, as has my son)

I don't know about pro's nearer to Newcastle, I can only recommend those I have used and they are Morpeth and above.

Let us know who you go for and how you find them. Always interesting to hear.

Another vote for David Clark at Morpeth, best coach I've used. Got a good indoor studio if the weather is rubbish.

He does a good package of 6 lessons for £100. They are supposed to be 30 mins but mine always last at least 45!

Is the studio relatively new? I didn't know they had that but it is a good move. The outdoor area can be a bit exposed on a harsh NE day o_O

I've had a couple of lessons at Parklands with David O'Brien and I've enjoyed both of them. £35 for an hour with Trackman, hitting out into the range. He also sends a report to your Trackman account with a little 3 minute video going over what you have changed and what to keep working on.

Probably not. David O'Brien used to be the pro at Percy Wood but moved to Parklands a year or so ago. He went to specialise in junior coaching but will teach adults as well. My son had group county lessons with him for a while and really liked him. Sad to say he was 'moved up' a group and the next coach was not as good as David 😕.

You could be right but equally so could Springveldt.

Ah right. My introduction to golf was group lessons at Parklands with David Ord. I would not recommend him. 2 lessons in and he was showing us how to hit a draw and a fade. Most of us were struggling just to hit the ball!

Definitely O'Brien. Good guy, only gets me to work on 1 thing at a time. My driving has been great since the last lesson, played a round on Saturday at my brothers course back in Scotland and was level par for the last 10 holes (we shall ignore the first 8...)

Short game is really letting me down, my ball striking has improved a lot just through 2 lessons with him.
