Golf Insurance

Had mine with Golf Care for the last few years....never had to use it, so for me I'd say pick the one where you get the best freebies.

I'm with Carrick Neill - never had to claim so no comments re: service etc

I'll be looking to insure clubs, trolley, shoes, etc. Well my company car insurance is Third Party only so I need to be covered when they're in the boot, when they are stored in the garage and at the club and when travelling.

There are all sorts of things to consider such as whether you want new for old. Some do but only for a limited age, some for life. Do you need cover for hole in one bar tab? Some insure your clubs if you leave them outside the club house, other insurers don't. All small print in reality.

Carrick Neill for me. Very pleased although I haven't had to claim. They did add cover in for theft from my locker/locker room as I wasn't sure I was covered under home insurance for that part of the club. Only a minimal additional cost. Took it out mainly for the liability cover

Same for me. As much as clubs etc being stolen would seriously pee me off, the liability for damage to persons or property could absolutely ruin me.

As an alternative, bear in mind that many household insurance policies include public liability cover.

I called my home insurer and specifically said to them, "if I accidentally injure someone or damage property when out playing golf, does the public liability clause in my policy cover that?", and he told me that yes, it does.

Also, most contents insurance will cover a few thousand quid of personal possessions (eg. clubs/trolleys/etc) out of the home.

So the only extra thing that specialist golf insurance would cover that I can think of is a hole-in-one bar bill.

Carrick Neil for me - insures clubs even when in boot of car parked outside your house - we tend to leave both sets in the back of our car

Then read the details very very carefully.

Many policies either don't cover most of the situations you list or have restrictions that can prove difficult with some vehicles eg out of sight etc
