Apologies straight away if this has been covered in a thread recently, but a search revealed nothing.

Having just joined a new club, I enquired whether they included insurance within the fee as some clubs do - but not this one! So I guess I need to find some cover...

Can anyone recommend a decent policy which covers third party and property/clubs both at home and abroad? Thanks in advance.

Well time post mate, was about to do the same thing. Spoke to HomerJ about this today. He warned me off American Golf and is with some Scottish company, hopefully he will be along later.

My renewal for E&L golf insurance came in the mail today. £29/yr covers my gear to about £1500 plus the usual indemnity against breaking car windows, someone else's head etc etc.
They came recommended on here a year ago, I suppose you never know how good an insurer is until you have to claim, of course you don't want to be in that claiming situation either.
Anyway if I ever have to claim I'll let you know but I'm ok with the price at least.
I suppose it's peace of mind, am tempted to not bother I must confess but you just never know what might occur at a golf club in tems of accidents or thefts.

Just looked at E&L and they look pretty good so may go with them in March when my AG insurance runs out. I looked for who I was with previously but I think I've shredded the policy and can't think of the name except they were based in Edinburgh.

think am going to look into insurance very soon

@birdieman. where about in aberdeenshire you from?

Near Ballater, envious of you coastal based folk who can play all year, we've been frozed since early November up here in the hills!

If you're worried only about injuring/damaging someone/something while playing, your house Contents insurance (assuming you have both) will cover you under the Personal & Public Liability section, usually up to £2m. Double-checked this today with two major insurers. Won't cover some low-life nicking your gear or the airline losing it, etc.

Thanks for the advice and information offered.

I have looked at some policies mentioned, i.e. E & L, Golf Shield (jtonline), and Carrick Neil. As with all insurance, the devil is in the detail, for instance, E & L has no excess but has quite stringent limitations in some of the cover; Golf Shield is reasonable but has a £100 excess on most claims; Carrick Neil doesn't volunteer a full policy document although the summary is fairly clear. I've emailed the latter for some further info, and I'm likely to go with them.

Boring subject, I know - until you need it! ;)
