Just got quoted £63.30 from Carrick Neill this year which I find rather steep.

Who else is out there that you would recommend, I appreciate cheaper isn't usually better.

****UPDATE****

Just decided to check with Tesco (my home insurance) and my clubs are covered for up to £2k plus I have £2 million in public liability insurance which will cover me on the golf course. Guess who isn't getting £63.30 from me this year!

I would strongly recommend that you all check your home insurance policy and cover before getting suckered into specific Golf Insurance.

I'm away to play 18 holes £63 better off, may treat myself to a nice wee shirt now. Happy days.

I looked into this for my son (who seems to have collected a very expensive bag of kit) - mainly concerned about the theft side.

I checked most of the well known insurers and came to the conclusion that it is almost impossible to claim. From what I could make out the ONLY time his clubs would be covered is if they were stolen from the locked (and covered) boot of his car in the clubhouse car park. Given he is only 13 this doesn't help. Do house policies cover clubs in / around the clubhouse - and has anyone had a successful claim for stolen clubs?

pretty sure clubs are covered with household insurance- always best to check your own policy though- some are named items only (but usually over £500) but most I believe cover sports items with an individual item not more than around £200, so it would cover all irons, most putters and most woods apart from some drivers with exotic shafts (so name that separately).
However all policies differ so check yours first and dont assume.

seems thecraw and maybe others could have saved some money the last few years

I'm with Carrick Neill and for £5 I got my clubs covered for theft inside the locker room (we have swipe card access so fairly secure except on society or match days) and from my locer if the club gets broken into. To be honest I wasn't convinced about my home insurance covering it and given the larger personal liability cover and protection, involuntary redunancy cover etc for the sake of a good night out I get peace of mind for a year

the majority of 'golf insurance' is designed to provide accident and legal risks - not equipement cover. The latter is tagged on to most policies as a very restricted cover to keep the premiums down; it is not an all risks equipment cover, and isn't designed to be so.

Household all risks cover is such an insurance, and the premiums reflect this.
