Golf insurance now required, i think.

It's time i got insured after hearing today that one of our long serving members is being sued . A newbie member claims he was hit by the long serving members golf ball.
The newbie has since left the club.

So what company and what cover, recommendations please. :fore:

I need to sort this too, I say it every year but after changing the whole bag I could do with the cover incase anything gets nicked or stolen. Plus I'm a bit wayward!!

Golf insurance for the ćost of it is not worth NOT having.think mine is about £60 a year for Europe wide as I play in Portugal every year.You will only know if they Are any good when you come to claim.

Our club recently took out insurance to cover all members, I think it added £5 on to our subs for the year. It's through a company called Carrick Neill and is underwritten by Royal Sun Alliance.

We have this as part of our subs... our course is bordered at a couple of holes by houses, and there's a couple of footpaths through the course that are popular with dog-walkers so a good idea for the club to have it. I took out additional insurance through Golfshield though to cover me at away courses and also my gear while travelling/playing at away courses. Costs £3.50 a month and not noticed.

to anyone else- remember your;
'walking the dog' insurance in case fido causes any issues directly or indirectly.
'Bike insurance' in case you cause an issue while on a public pavement (you all do it)
Squash insurance, many an injury with ball injuries and rackets swishing so close to peoples heads.
Tennis insurance, serves at 108mph can cause nasty marks and major liabilities, get covered.
Snooker insurance, have you seen the damage a snooker cue can do? dont be liable without cover.
Darts insurance- the mind boggles, sharpened tungsten missiles- get covered and feel safe.

PM if anyone wants me to point them to a good broker as that's just the tip of the iceberg

Golf Care. Price varies from about £23 to £50 depending on level of cover you want and the territorial extent you want. Eg UK only cover is cheaper than worldwide. Not had to make a claim yet though.

Just had a quick check online and best insurance I found was JLT they cover everything including theft from your car. Not the cheapest but for £29 think I will be taking this unless someone finds better soon.

I have insurance but I was under the impression that you were covered by a clubs insurance when you played there. Your own insurance was just an extra bit of comfort. Is that not the case?

Golfshield for me as well. £3.50 a month for piece of mind is nothing.

I go through Golf Care, I like the fact that in a recognised comp, they'll pay £250 towards you bar bill for a hole in one. Not had to use it yet.

It's £500 with Golfshield - shame I didn't have it just before Xmas when I got one!

Always put of taking out Golf Insurance and I have always said I should take it out!

So thanks for highlighting this! Kicked me up the rear and I have just taken out a policy with Golf Shield. For £2.79 a month you can't go wrong with the cover they offer.
