Morning all.

Have any of you ever done a golfing trip to Turkey? I'm looking at a 3 night stay taking in a few decent courses - maybe 3 or 4 rounds. Grateful for any recommendations on courses/accomodation or any general tips you may have.

Thanks in advance!

I've been a couple of times and I'm going again in March, you can't go wrong if you're going to Belek. Most of the hotels are all inclusive and I haven't played a course I didn't like. Personal favourite is Carya designed by Peter Thomson, def an Augusta feel in places with the tall trees and whiteness of the sand in the bunkers.

Who did you book with and how many rounds do you get in the package. I am liking the sound off all inclusive and golf and Turkey is getting very good reviews for golf.

A fella I work with goes every year with a group from the golf club and says its unbelievable. Everything thrown in and courses and service first class. I think they booked with Bilyana golf or something like that for a week.

I am really feeling the love for an all inclusive golf break. My missus has even suggested I do it so she can stay at the pool and get rid off me for the day :D

I think last time they ended up with some sort of villa of their own type thing with their own pool etc. Just carried crates of ale back from the bar after golf and relaxed in the sun :D

Its the perfect holiday for taking the missus and getting golf in :) iirc they pick you up from hotel too and take you to and from the golf courses.

Would definitely rate Carya as one of the best courses out there in Belek. My favourite of the five I played, immaculate condition when I played it last March.

Can recommend Bilyana Golf for accomodation/transportation/tee times etc great service.

Can also recommend the voyage hotel - superb value, but dont think you can go wrong with any of them. This year we are in the Cornelia which also looks amazing.

As for the golf there is a real mix to pick from - Championship and resort style, i've played a few, here is a summery.

Lykia Links - Superb but 25mins drive to get there
Carya - One of my favourites, great holes, great condition
Antalya - another favourite
Sueno - Ok, condition a bit poor and a more of a resort course
Montgomerie - Pretty good - defo worth a knock, this one is growing on me.
Gloria new - bit long and a bit tight - found it a slog
National - a bit overated and tired, nothing to write home about
Cornelia - not yet played

Plenty of others course to pick from that fall into the resort style category

We're off to Belek for the first time this March and booked through Golfbreaks.com so will be watching this with interest. Incidentally, if taking cash, what is best?

Been to Belek three times, and can recommend it. That said, there are some caveats:

1. It's NOT cheap. Last trip (May 2013) was for 12 nights with 9 rounds, all inclusive. Price was about £2k pp including flights. Make sure you book all your rounds as part of a deal - extra rounds are silly money (eg. 90 euros).

2. Seems a long way to go for three nights. Flight is 4 hours.

3. I've not stayed in any, but have heard that some hotels are Muslim-owned - not a problem per se, except that there is no bacon at breakfast!!!

4. The National course is up itself. Thinks it's the best, but I'd say it's the scruffiest and with the worst service of the lot.

The pound to lira exchange rate is extremely favourable at the moment. The irony with Turkey however is that they like to deal in Euros and often are unable, or "unwilling", to give you a price in lira.
If your going all inclusive you won't need much cash so euros may be your best bet. if your going "private" a mix of euros and lira is best.
I have a property there, I use only lira

Just got back last week. You really can't go wrong with any of the hotels or courses in belek. My personal favourites are the Sultan, the TAT and the Cayra. We paid 800ish for sun - sun. So 7 nights, played 5 of the 6 full days we were there. When you consider it's about a 100 euros a round. 330 quid for flights including clubs so that's about 700 quid for just those. Then transfers from airport and to courses everyday, all inclusive drinks and food, and we got upgrading to suites as it was the third time we had stayed in the same hotel. I'm already looking forward to next year.

This year we are in the Cornelia which also looks amazing.

If you're going there around the 24th April, I hope you will be behaving yourself. When we stayed there last year I had a bit of a run-in with a foul-mouthed Scottish golfer (I too am a Scot but quite refined). As you say, the hotels and the golf courses are fantastic.

I stayed in the corneila and its brilliant.

Great golfing destination the course are all outstanding same with the hotels and the staff have always so friendly. Don't be fooled though by thinking its Turkey it will be warm our last trip a couple years back during March on arrival the pilot announced the temp was 4 degrees. It had snowed not long before we got there and they had a thick frost which ruined [FONT=Verdana, Arial, Tahoma, Calibri, Geneva, sans-serif]Lykia Links greens. I would say the Sultan is the best course there although Lykia was a fantastic track would love to play that again with the greens on. On the money front I would take euros.

been there last november, management summary:
+ great service
+ courses in good condition
+ whether is great
- 5-hour+ rounds every day
- on most holes you have to play from the ladies' tee
- extra rounds are expensive
my favourite course was National, avoid Kaya Eagles
(i played sueno pines and dunes, gloria old and new, kaya, national, nobilis)
carya looked great but course was closed due to flooding

Why do you have to play off the ladies tees?
