We're off to France for a couple of weeks on Sunday and I've just about reached the stage in negotiations with Mrs wookie where a half set should be coming with us.

The only course I can really see near us (near Roche sur Yon) that looks half decent is La Domangere.

Has anyone played much golf round that way and can point me in the right direction please?

Can't say I've played golf around there but we had a fortnight near there a few of years ago.
La Tranche-Sur-Mer is a lovely seaside resort and worth spending a day at the beach there.
Have a walk around La Rochelle and lunch at one of quayside restaurants. Loads of freshly caught fish on the menus.
If you're feeling like you need some exercise you can hire bikes on Ile de re. It's quite flat and relatively easy cycling.
If you've got children, http://www.puydufou.com/en?season=summer is absolutely superb. It's probably worth the visit even without kids!

Hi Simon

check out Royan, played it a couple of times. Undualting course cut through a pine forest, very Woburn like in places.

Enjoy

Thanks for the replies guys.

Come on Chris if you can't do it with a whole internet to hide behind when can you :D

Thanks for those tips PaulE - was looking for a seaside town other than les Sables to checkout. Puy Du Fou was mentioned in the bits the holiday company sent through. Our youngest at 6 months won't know either way but do you reckon it's any good for 3 y.o.

Gordon cheers that looks nice but at just over 2 hours away isn't going to pass Clouds strict tests as to where is allowed:D

Saint Jean de Monts looks lovely as well and is just under an hours drive so that's on the list - thanks Sev

They're probably a bit young for Puy du Fou at those ages. Our youngest was 4 at the time and he didn't really follow what was happening.

Thanks again Sev - played St Jean De Monts and was a lovely mix of tree lined holes then out into the dunes for some proper links holes. Greens werent in perfect order as they had just started micro coring that morning but would highly recommend to anyone in the area.

Played La Domangere a bit further south the week before but this wasn't particularly inspiring and felt overly long although that probably wasn't helped by the fact that I couldn't hit a fairway til the 15th despite them being about twice as wide as most I play:D. As ever with this game though there's something to bring you back and I played the last four holes level par to end with a smile.
