Got a chance to play tommorrow but the weather report is for sheet rain all day where I play.

Haven't played since new years eve- (Manston public 9 hole -maybe the only course that can claim to have a 747 jumbo as a backdrop on all holes) and i'm itching to get out there.

Have found in the past that rain is a game killer- wet grips, wet clothes, freezing cold hands and a bit of a mudbath.

Upside is that i'll probably get the place to myself and it's a day out of the smoke- well , at least as long as Ken Livingstone doesn't crush my impudence for owning a large car with his proposed £25 a day charge.

ive heard there are 'wet gloves' that increase grip and one of those heat packs could help-I busted a metacarple a few years ago in a bike accident and them ol' bones don't like the damp.

Any thoughts?

As ive said elsewhere I'm a londoner but spend a lot of time in that neck of the woods visiting the olds.

Westwood cross- now there's a topic eh?

buy my golf balls from the sports extra next to Argos- when you spray them around like I do you don't buy V1's (the missus bought me a sleeve and I coudn't decide wether to frame them or plant them in the hope they might bear fruit)

Parking at WC is an 'mare isn't it? God knows what it'll be like when they open the 20 lane bowling alley too.

I got an 90 at Manston on new years eve which won't impress many ( 9 hole, 9 tee but with eighteen SI's covering about 4500 yards on an 18 round- blowed if I know how that works!) but for a beginner I was a bit pleased for myself as it was my best score to date.

Ive tried one of the Pegwell bay courses- fair enough and a step up from Manston but a mudbath. Do you recommend anywhere else within striking distance of the fair Isle- Westgate for example?

I would rather nail my reproductive organs to a table than play in anything more than light showers.
If you even go near the FAST (Famously Awful Shite Tat) irons it would be a crime of the most severe nature.

Do you get down to Kent often for a game? There are a few of us, me included who would enjoy meeting for a round.

So am I. I've actually played some of my better rounds in the rain. I think it teaches you to play within yourself and swing easy.

For me this is irrelevant, as after all the rain yesterday, and what is forecast today, my track will be closed.

As a general rule, if the rain isn't stair rods, I will play, same as if it's windy, but wind and rain, no.

Waterproofs are what get you back to the club house nice and dry.

I'm getting cabin fever. Went to the range last night but it's not enough. Hoping for 9-holes at least this afternoon but it's p****** down. I don't mind if it rains once I've teed off but somehow it's different starting in the rain.

I will pretty much pitch up and play in any weather. So long as the course is open.

My regular playing partners however are not so hardy, so if the weather is bad it can be a lonely round!

Got a nice new w/proof jacket to try out. Only trouble is it's white. Quite chavtastic. Not sure how long it will stay this colour, as it's quite impractical. Still, for the first few holes it will look the biz. If only the course wasn't shut.
