Went to play this morning.. was great for 2 holes up 'til the clouds burst and by the 5th hole speedos were in order - freezing and soaking.... NR after 8

I figure that's 0.1 back on my h/cap?,.. feckin' annoying would be an understatement.

Strange that a sport (and especially h/caps) can be influenced when the weather is appalling. You wouldn't ask a decent darts player to play in the wind would you?

How do you cope when it's raining? Do you just get on with it? It's a bit annoying when it gets to the stage that you can't even be bothered to line up a putt

Dpends on the quality of the rain.
There's rain and then there's Biblical rain.
Decent rainwear helps but grips get wet, drops down the back of the neck - 'orrible.
I don't often walk in. Even if it's blistering down I'll take shelter then carry on when it calms down a bit.
I also don't really suffer from loss of grip in the wet - must be lucky..
The only time I would walk in would be if the greens were flooding and the course basically unplayable.

Tiger - Depends if you have a wife who might need a kidney and you've recently told her you'd rather play golf in the rain.. and was wrong  No offence was meant.

Imurg - yeh it got to the stage that putts were just sticking in places... you couldn't really tell if there was water in the way or not, no puddles but then I didn't make it far enough, they might be flooded now.

Golf in the rain today, played really well until I lost a ball. Got my ball an a guys from my group mixed up. Spent 5 mins looking for "his" ball when it was sitting next to my bag all along, then could not find mine when I realised the mistake.

Ended up taking 8, nearly recovered the round but missed a 3 foot birdie putt on the last for a round 2 over my handicap round a really short course!

I don't mind the rain with spaces between the drops, but, and it's a big but, I hate that rain that is solid. You know the stuff that has no spaces and is usually helped along by a gale force wind.

Sorry to hear about your wife JO I hope all turns out for the best. Without the context just seemed like a nonsensical statement. The brother in law lost both kidneys shortly after birth and has already had two transplants from both his parents. The Mrs is next in line when this one gives up the ghost. Not fun at all. I'd take playing in the rain

when it pishes down i just concentrate on trying to get the magic 36 points. i dont usually wear a glove at all but sometimes if its lashing ill glove up.

Rain is just weather, no different from blistering sunshine or gale force winds. Personally I enjoy playing in inclement weather as straight away at least half the field think like you!

Yeh, it's just once the course gets a bit slappy the fun goes... especially in a comp. In causal play (for the banter) I'd carry on until I was literally soaked. Hard to play with card in hand once it's turned to mache  maybe I should make that an unwritten rule... once the card melts it's time to walk in :)

H'mm. Looks like it was a case of bad timing. Weather's great here now.

Or in the words of Jimmy Buffett... 'The Weather is Fine, Wish You Were Beautiful'!

Really only play in the rain if I've committed. Played a match and it started hammering it down as we reached the first green so off with the glove, on with the w/ps and hit and hope on the greens. Only lasted about 3 holes so not as bad as it could have been.

I'm playin tomorrow and was supposed to have rain today, nothing but sunshin.. Look on the met app for tomorrow and it's >=90% chance of heavy rain.. Though today was 80%.. Hoping for the best!

It doesn't take as long to dry out after getting wet as to recover from a nephrectomy operation, and you can do it more than once, so I vote for golf in the rain.

To an extent i dont mind rain but if its persistant then i hate it....
The problem i have is that , Ok, im in full wets but then i have to get rid of my leather glove and replace it with a pair of FJ rain gloves...I hate doing this as when they are wet then my hands start to get cold....Out of stubborness i wont take them off even though for putting i always putt without a glove.....So for me then the putting goes out the window too...

A pain in the ass really..But if its a medal or a normal comp then i will battle on as best i can...

I think the problem for most is that if they aren't playing particularly well then they will blame the weather....Me included....
And the ironic thing about us golfers this side of the world have more practice playing in crappy weather than anyone else i think:)
And we are still not used to it.:(

I dont mind playing in the rain, I just put on the waterproofs, use a wet weather glove, stick the umbrella on the trolly and get on with it. I like it less when the rain starts and stops when it's warm, which can create a Hokey Kokey style, wet gear on, wet gear off, on, off, on, off, shake it all about.
