Hi,

There's 3 of us heading to the Torrelominos area at the end of August for golf + holiday. Would anyone who has played in that area recommend any courses to us?

Also is a handicap certificate essential?

Any other tips would be welcomed.

Thanks

Welcome to The Forum!

Think we need to know a little about you and your standard of golf. There are many courses and prices vary by a tremendous amount depending upon the quality. Assume you have a car and how far you want to travel.

The Parador at Malaga has 27 holes is closeby and is a reasonable test and a good price, much better if you stay at The parador

Torrequebrada is very close, brilliant course lots of quirky intresting holes, but maybe a bit more expensive.

Two courses at Mijas, Lagos and Olivos, cheaper but still ok

Three course at La Cala, up in the hills, good fun courses, buggy required, cant recall the prices.

If you can, try and play Santana, slightly further away but a real hidden gem.

La Cala is good value at 90 euros for 2 people witha buggy included. Best course is Santana which will be about 60 euros. There's a good shop in Fuengirola who will book the courses for you at reduced rates with cheap club hire if needed.

Agree Torrequebrada is very close and worth a shot. I hated Mijas (very artificial and far to busy)

La Cala is very good 3 courses to choose from Campo Asia and Europa being the 2 out of the three to play. Campo Asia is walkable. Don't even attempt to walk the Asia, you'll be dead before you make the 1st tee from the clubhouse. Usually reasonably priced. Never been asked for a H'cap cert at any of these courses.

Just back from Murcia, remember over there economy is even worse than ours we haggled and got some great deals - we played 5 rounds of golf at 3 excellent courses and the price averaged out at £40 a round incl buggies for 4 of the rounds. They're desperate to get you through the door. I know Costa Del Sol will be more expensive but chance your arm anyway and try and get some bargains. HAVE A GOOD ONE.

Another vote for Torrequebrada here. Really lovely course.

We played La Cala as well and were due to go back again but we liked Torrequebrada so much we ended up playing there all week.
