Right, so I'm off to Dubai in early July and fancy getting in a couple of rounds while I'm there.

My questions are:

Has anyone here played out there at that time of year? I've been there before at that time, but as it was my honeymoon, golf wasn't really on the agenda :p

Is it a 5/6/7/8am thing or 3/4pm?

I was thinking of 2 of Dubai Creek/The Montgomerie/Emirates Faldo, so if anyone has any experience, that would be helpful. Will the courses be in good nick then or are they likely to be tining the greens etc.?

Also, if anyone knows of any good discount agents, that would help ;) The best I've found so far is www.greenfeesdirect.com

At least it would guarantee me at least 2 rounds on a dry course this year!

When there, I played a course called Nad al Sheba Golf Club. This course is the only middle eastern club with an amazing floodlight system that allows you to play at night.

The course is a full sized 18 hole, 6428 yard Championship Course and is definately worth a look/game.

They will rent you everything, shoes, clubs etc so why not go and have a bit of fun. Seriously, this is a big course, not "micky mouse", and can be played in the cool of the evening/night time.

It might be an option for you to consider. Tel: +971 4 3363666. Web site www.nadalshebaclub.com

I know that one Heronsghyl, 9 holes of it are inthe middle of the racecourse, well worth a visit just for the novelty of playing at night. The Emirates is fantastic but pricey, their second course (The Wadi) is just as good but more reasonably priced, if you can though play the Majalis, it's every bit as good as it looks on TV.

I've many times played 36 in one day in Riyadh in July (buggy, of course). Your problem will be the humidity in Dubai. Let us know how you get on. I'm sure you're a fit guy and will manage at least 18. (BTW, I mean fit in the the sense that you're in good shape or are healthy). Your team's ticking away not too badly now ''ma bonny lad''. Sorry to read about Bobby Robson's latest setback. A great person, he will be missed when he goes.

Thanks for those who replied with useful info.

The night time option is intriguing for the novelty factor alone, but I think I'm more attracted by the quality of DC/Em/Mont courses and I've only really got the chance to play twice.

I've played in 33/34 heat with 95% humidity before in Phuket (walking at that) and coped fine enough, so I'm figuring that early enough in the day and in a compulsory buggy should be just about manageable.

Special thanks to Shanks, who appears to be repressing a crush on me :-0

As far as the Toon go, I'll just be happy when the season is over and we've survived. As for Bobby, he is, and always will remain, a gentleman and a legend. His dignity, humility and grace in the face of such sufferance (5th time now) is awe-inspiring.

That's how you deal with cancer in a dignified way for the benefit of many - something the Government and Jade Goody need to think about.
