Golf in Bahrain

Thanks to my wife being sent there to work for a week (Higher Education - your tax pounds at work!), I have the opportunity to play out there. I think I've just cleared it with the airline that I get to take 15kg of golf stuff free of charge (that'll be a half set then...) but I was wondering if anyone has ever played out there?

Unfortunately for me, the Riffa (the big fancy course) is closed for construction (thanks Monty) so I believe the only other course is the Awali golf club - completely devoid of grass! I'd expect my sand-saves to improve at least!

If anyone knows anything or has any info to impart, please do. Otherwise I'll hopefully have some quality pics to show you when I get back!

Forget the golf and go off-roading in the desert instead in a great big Mitsubishi or something, that's what all the pros do when they're over there!
