I'm sure that most of us have been away on a golfing break/holiday with mates - be it a long weekend or week/fortnight.

Given the choice, what would your preferred format for the games be e.g. Stroke play or Stableford (or something else)?

We have always played Stableford but that could be because we are all double figure handicappers.

If you are a single figure player amongst others of a similar standard, would Stableford be best or would you prefer to play the "no hiding place" stroke play format?

We go on tour twice a year, 15 of us. We play 3 ball, so 5 groups and we play stapleford combined. We all put £20 each in, winning group takes half the pot, highest individual takes the other half.

Our handicpas range from +2 to 22 so it's a fairer way of doing things. Roll on August when we go again!!!

If I was with a group of competent golfers I'd prefer to have a medal competition and maybe have a separate prize for stableford points (we all know how one bad hole can cost you everything in medal)

Most of the lads I go away with are mid-high handicappers with the player only playing occasionally so stableford makes more sense
