All,

I have family in the USA and have the opportunity to get a GOLF GPS brought home.

The 2 brands I am looking at are the Skycaddie and the Sonocaddie ranges.

Can anyone advise on any issues with European courses on these brands. Do they come pre-loaded with global courses or will I have to get a European download and what problems can I expect.

Which unit would you guys recommend.
Sonocaddie V500 $400, V300 $300
Skycaddie SG5 $250

regards

John

When I last enquired to Sonocaddie the V500 was not suitable for the Eurpoean market, it only has US courses downloaded, the current European equivalent is the V350 (that was about 2 mths ago).

Also, the Skycaddie youve listed is a slightly older model, that I think has been superceded by the SGX.

There are some GPS machines that have Worldwide courses downloaded onto them, though not sure whether that applies to any of the ones youve listed

Skycaddie doesnt have courses pre-loaded.

They work on a yearly subscription basis where you pay for what you want. I think it cost me £30 for the "Birdie" package which if I remember correctly gives me any course within the UK and Ireland.

You can download as many as you want but depending on the model you have can only hold a certain amount of courses at any one time.

So there should be no issues importing one from America
