Why do we wear one?
I must confess I always have, but yesterday for the last few holes I thought I would try playing without it on. It took a couple of shots to get used to the different feel, but after I must confess I am seriously thinking to going without one all together now.
Anyone else play without..and why?

I've never worn one and don't feel the need to.

For those who do wear a glove, what is the benefit?

even though i have a few,i dont wear any.
im left handed but play right handed.im also left hand strong so wearing a glove on my left hand causes me to roll the club over.
i would end up wearing 2 gloves, albeit in the depths of winter i have been known to wear 2 wets.

Stops my left hand index finger becoming a painful, bloody mess. Also helps me feel more confident with my grip and less likely to grip the club with white knuckles.

I stopped wearing a glove a year ago. I have worn a glove for years but after a 20 year break from golf, I found the newer synthetic gloves were useless as they stretched out of shape so quickly and I was left with "spare" material at the end of my fingers and in my palm and hence making my grip even worse!
A year ago I questioned, the same as you, why do I need one?
Since then I have played without one and can honestly say I have never felt my club slip in 70 odd rounds. I grip the club pretty lightly too.
No fart arseing about putting them on and off either is another benefit.

I would say the majority of players use one because everyone else does.

perhaps donkeys years ago with poor leather grips a glove was necessary, but modern grips are so good now, personally I think they are another con from the manufacturers.

Soft hands so they stop me getting blisters. They give me a better grip on the club particularly if it is warm and my hands get sweaty. Considering I use one maybe two per season then it is not a big deal to buy them. There are bigger golfing cons out there.

Used my Macwets today and would have been struggling without it. Yesterday my partner was really struggling to grip the club as he has huge hands so Macwets dont fit, he turned up today with Marigold washing up gloves and he shot one under handicap in the Medal

Stopped wearing one the other week as it was too hot and I don't like having a pale hand and I didn't notice any difference.

A right handed golfer is (generally) supposed to grip the club more with the left hand than the right, the glove gives a better grip.

It's good question though, anyone wearing anything but a good quality cabretta leather glove is wasting their time I've always thought.

My grip feels much better with one, the club moves around in my hands if i have no glove, if i have no glove i cannot golf, i rely on them that much
