For the people who know me on the forum I would describe my game as pretty bad.

I am pretty crap/inconsistent with driver , irons and I don't have a short game. I am happy with how I putt most days and I do love this game.

With all this in mind I have decided to try and get some sort of short game, I struggle/panic from 90 and below.

Can anyone recommend a good short game coach in the Hampshire area ?

Unfortunately for me looking at you tube or reading how to do it doesn't work with me, I need to be shown how to do it.

Cheers

Richard Adams at South Winch taught me everything I know.

He got me from beginner to 12 handicap club champ net runner up in 18 months. Runner up 1 week by a shot a after getting 2 shot cut...

If he is still at south winch anyway...

EDIT:

BTW I would not describe you as rubbish. We had some great games and hit some great shots. The course you play at makes the game a little harder, it was easier to play good golf at South Winch. I struggled with the layout and ground conditions at times round East H.

Can't recommend any coaches but good luck with it Guy. How you getting on with the Jason tests?

Mate,

They have really made me realise how crap my short game is. They have been good fun though. How are you finding them?

Found them really helpful to be honest. I don't think you are helping yourself with your bag set up. Treat yourself to at least a SW but ideally a SW and a GW. The toughest test so far was the bunker one. But as soon as I started visualising the right shot I got so much better. The pitching I practice a fair bit in the garden anyway it's just a matter of getting more precise.

I hinge and hold and it's made such a difference but the biggest change is my focus on the ball/sand. On chips and pitches I pick a spot/mark on the ball and just concentrate on that. For bunkers it's a point in the sand about 1.5" behind the ball. Quality of contact has improved so much. Focus on landing spot while practicing the swing then focus on spot and swing trusting my brain to do the maths. The more I practice the better it's getting. Keep with it mate you'll get there I have faith
