Hi, my name is Aureliano and i'm writing from Italy (Milan). Sorry for my shameful english!

This is my first post and first of all I would like to thank you for the hospitality.

I have just an idea to propose you.

In italy (Milan exactly) there's a popular golf forum (http://www.nextgolf.it) that it is interested to organize a golf challenge with other european golf community. We have been playing since 2003 against other italian golf community (a sort of ryder cup) and we spend a wonderful moments of golf in terms of friendship, challenge, golfcourse...in few words in terms of GOLF!!!

I have already conctacted forum communities from Spain,Holland, England,France, Sweden, Finland and they are really interested ad enthusiastic: we are already thinking and proposing ideas about organization.

Till now Spanish, Dutch, German and English have already confirmed their partecipation!!

Are you interested to developed something about that??

I just can say to you that we would prefer to play in Italy the Golf Forum International Challenge (just for respecting to the "father" of idea...ehm...ehm..that's me ).

Please visit our italian golf forum (www.nextgolf.it) and get registering (just if you want). Others european golfers have already got registering and they are discussing with us (in english) in "FORUM CHALLENGE CUP" section!

GOLF FORUM INTERNATIONAL CUP RULES



The competition will be performed over 3 days (18 holes per day) and it will play under Medal Scratch and Handicap rules.

No limitation on players number.

The titles are: European Forum Single’s Championship and European Forum Team’s Championship.

European Forum Single’s Championship

Single match players will be subdivided into 5 categories under EGA Handicap System Rules.

Categories are: 0/4.4 – 4.5/11.4 – 11.5 – 18.4 – 18.5/26.4 – 26.5/36

The prizes will be awarded to 1st Best Gross Score and 1st and 2nd Best Net Scores of each category.

The 1st Best Gross Score Winner of each category will be the European Forum Single’s Champion of that category.

If there are at least 20 women players, a Ladies Ranking with 3 prizes for gross scores and 3 prizes for net scores will be established. The 1st Best Gross Score Winner will be the European Forum Women’s Champion

European Forum Team’s Championship

European Forum Team’s Championship will be played with teams made up of 4 players.

In case of reaching a maximum number of players, consideration will be given to play even on second golf course (Bogogno golf course has 36 holes).

European Forum Team’s Championship game ranking will be made by the daily total of the best three individual scores from each team. The lowest score will be rejected. The best total score (over 3 days) will name the European Forum Team’s Champion.

Team must have a minimum of 3 players to participate in the European Forum Team Championship.

No difference will exist between ladies and gentlemen; they will share in the team competition.

The prizes will be awarded to 1st, 2nd, 3rd Best Gross Scores Team and 1st, 2nd, 3rd Best Net Scores Team.

The Team Winners (gross and net) will be the European Forum Team’s Champions.

General Features

Gentleman will start from white tees and ladies will start from black tees

A single player may participate in the event (without belonging to a team), however may only play in the European Forum Single’s Championship

A Putting green contest and driving contest will be organized

5 Winners of the European Forum Single’s Championship and 2 (teams) Winners of the European Forum Team’s Championship (gross score ranking and net score ranking) will be announced at the conclusion of the event.

24-25-26-27 July 2008 , Golf Club dei Laghi (Travedona Monate -VA-). www.golfdeilaghi.it

• 54 holes medal (team and singles challenges). Rules already posted
• Putting green and driving contest
• Hostess service and refreshment
• Dinner on 26 July at the Golf Club
• Presence of International referees
• Further events

Subscription Fee: 200 euro . Includes:

• Green fees for three days competition plus trial day (4 days total)
• Dinner on 26 July at the Golf Club
• Free t-shirt for participants
• Further events

You are kindly invited to post your “unofficial subscription” clicking on the link http://www.nextgolf.it/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=4065 in order to get a golfer number forecast to be confirmed in the near future.

If someone is coming to Italy with family or friends, please indicate (more or less) the total number.

I can anticipate that, other than post your “unofficial subscription” on nextgolf site, it’s required an “official subscription” within a date to be defined writing a confirmation mail to: gfic @ nextgolf.it

It's a very nice idea but I think the location probably causes problems for most of us. We're a fairly new forum and we're presently trying to organise our own first meeting together to play in England. So I think this is pre-occupying us at the moment.

Hi dear friends….how are you???

It’s a long time since I wrote you; unfortunately summer has already gone and this is a very busy time.

After GIFT 2008 we want to organize GIFT 2009 as the best way we can but…I NEED YOU!!!

For GIFT 2009 golf course should be the same…game formula should be the same…date of event should be the same…the cost of the event should be the same…the question is: no changes??..the answer is….YES!!...because we HOPE to meet the same players next year adding more players and more countries!!

Help us to get it!

It is already time to get a preliminary count of participants for the GIFT 2009…only for understanding the future trend.

Hi Aureliano. Hope your event went well.

Seems like an excellent Idea, and I for one would be loosely interested in the next but I fear like last year, the location may prove to be a problem.

Interested in seeing what unfolds this time though as we have had alot of succesful meets since the last time you posted.

Without wishing to sound rude, but we are struggling to find a date and location for a tournament amongst ourselves so the chances of anyone being able to organise an overseas trip are slim.

Rather than keep posting updates and different bits, why not wait until after Christmas and see a) if there is any further interest and b) how the econonmic situation is going as I imagine money wil be a big issue for are lot of people on here
