Having one in a few weeks and looking for ideas for competitions during the round other than the usual nearest the pins, longest drive etc?

Also its going to be a teams day, 2 teams of 10, so i'm going to need to get a prize for everyone in the winning team. So looking for something cheap, only thing i can think of is a sleeve of balls. Anyone got any better ideas?

Any other things people think would make it a better day would be much appreciated.

Straightest drive is always an interesting one, minimum distance of say 170 yards. You need the club to paint a white line down a fairway though really..

As for prizes, I assume budget is under a tenner as you suggested a sleeve of balls...

I have about £140 left for prizes after I pay for the golf and food. Want to do a prize on the 4 par 3s, a nearest the pin in 2 and a longest drive. So was thinking £15 a prize for those would leave £50, divided by 10 people so £5pp.

Where is the best place to get personalised balls or markers done?

At our invitational recently we had a couple of games on holes in addition to the nearest-pin/longest drive... on one hole, an uphill par-4, the pin was removed. Players had to play to the green and hope they were close to the hole. But until you were on the green, you had no idea where the hole was...

On the 18th, there were 3 pins cut. 1 in an easy-to-get to position, 1 in a mid-difficulty position, and 1 in a killer-position. If you targeted the easy pin, you scored your normal stableford points on the hole. Mid-difficulty added a point, and the killer added 2 points. You had to declare your pin on the tee and play to that pin.. if you holed out on another pin, you lost your points for that hole.

We had a beat-the-pro challenge on one of the par-3s too. It wasn't the club pro who played (we don't have one) but a low-handicapper. He played the hole with you, and if you beat him, you scored an extra point.

A couple of good ideas there mate, really like the 3 pins one although not sure if the course will do that for us as there will be others playing that day as well.

Along the same lines as the blind pin... A bottle of Pimms placed on an uphill Par 3 green for 'Nearest the Pimms'. Nearest the pin in 3 on a Par 5 is a pretty standard one as well. Like 'Straightest Drive' Good alternative to Longest Drive which can be between the same 3 or 4 folk each time.

My club do the straightest drive a lot for societies, needs to be a minimum distance though otherwise I would just take a wedge off the tee!
