Golf courses around Chicago

I am going to have a couple of spare days in Chicago next week after a wedding. Has anyone got any suggestions of good courses to play nearby? I've sent Cog Hill an email to see if I can get on there as a single player but would appreciate any other suggestions.

P.s. I should have said, only courses that I will actually be able to get onto as a visitor, which presumably rules out Chicago GC, Medinah, Olympia Fields etc. Cheers

After Cog Hill, you get a decent enough game on any of these.

Cantigny Golf Course
Pine Meadow Golf Course
Prairie Landing Golf Club
Bowes Creek Country Club
Ravisloe Country Club
The Highlands of Elgin

Harborside is one of the closest places to the downtown city area, and has 2 pretty good courses and is decent value.

If you only have time for the range, there is Play18 (virtual indoors) downtown & Diversey Driving Range (outdoors)

- you should really enjoy it and might be worth calling into Medinah to have a look around - it's very close to Cog Hill out in the western suburbs.
