Could anyone please recommend a top quality Golf course in the Telford area ?

I really am looking for something a bit special to take clients.

Obviously The Belfry is an option, but was thinking of something a little closer.

Thanks.

How about head up toward Chester & play one of the two excelent courses at Carden Park. We've played the Jack Nicklause course there & its a lovely Moster. Nice clubhouse too. Not been in the Hotel, but even that looks good too.

Oh, btw, don't beieve the car's sat nav if you have Tom Tom, as it tried to bring us in the backentrance which doesn't exist.

Did I tell you about Jacks trees?

Jack likes his trees. He likes them so much he has peppered the fairways with as many as the sides of the course in some places.

Carden Park also accepts 2for1 vouchers

And I can well recommend the breakfast butties there.

I can advise you on virtually every course....this is my home territory, and I've played almost the lot.

My "tip" for a business-type venue would have to go to Hawkstone park.

There are 2 courses, an old parkland "Hawkstone" (which I always enjoy) and a newer part-American-style, which was known as the Windmill (i.i.r.c.) but is now the Championship. Both are good, the new one is more difficult and I've had highs and lows on this one.....

I wouldn't dare to comment on some of the others (best to PM) but I always enjoy Shifnal

and Wrekin

In fairness to both, Shifnal might be a bit more "impressive" and Wrekin is great old-fashioned members club which might be more "homely".

You might consider a trip down the road to either Chesterton or Worfield. Yidio (on here) is familiar with both.

Patshull (on the Wolverhampton side) is OK.....quite a nice course and probably good at the "reception/food" element.

Belfy and Little Aston are probably too far (an hour)

Brocton

is well liked by it's members, old (1920s) classy parkland.

If I haven't mentioned it, best to PM me. There are a few within 30 minutes of Telford I'd NOT recommend.

Oh, just a thought.

If it's a quality COURSE you want, and are happy to travel 30-40 minutes SOUTH of Telford. There is only one course for me.

Enville......

Little Aston is rated by lots of players, pros and those well-off enough to afford the "visitor" green fee. The members are a good bunch etc. etc. BUT for me, although Little Aston is a great course and a classic venue, if I had to choose between here and Enville, Enville would win. I play at both and to me, Enville is the Walton Heath of the Midlands. Sandy soil, tree-lined fairways (when not links-y), green greens and secluded.....
