In trying to organise golf outings for the gents in my team at work. As we work in Leeds it seems a good central place to play.

Ive been looking at clubs with weeken green fees of £20 or less and came across Calverly and South Leeds.

Has anyone played these or have any recommendations?

I played South Leeds a few years ago. Not that great a layout and I won't be rushing back any time soon.

Have you tried Leeds Golf Centre (Wike Ridge)? They have some good individual offers such as £15 a round after 3pm. Might be worth seeing what, if anything they could offer. It's a cracking course too, a good challenge but fair and always been in good condition when I've played there.

I'll second the calverly is crap comment. Not a fan of south Leeds either. Woodhall Hills over the road from calverly is alright though. Wike Ridge is decent. Cookridge is a bit American but is also alright.

I'll third the Calverley opinion. The slightest rain and it's a bog. Wike Ridge is pretty good, and I played Horsforth last month, an thought it was good. I'm playing Wetherby in 10 days so I'll let you know my thoughts,

For around that price I'd recommend Horsforth or Cookridge.

Horsforth is quite tree lined but wide enough with good greens, can get a bit windy as well.

Cookridge is American as has been said, but it's nearly always in good condition. Some artificial water around the course which doesn't exactly appeal to me, but it's a fun course to play, very resort like but fine

Another vote for Horsforth and Woodhall Hills. Calverley is ok, used to play it fairly regulary as you get on for £10/15. South Leeds is ok, Howley Hall is a cracking course and they do deals. Wife Ridge I thought was ok too.
