In these busy days it seems less folk have the time to hang around in the Clubhouse after the round to mull over & discuss things.
So how does your Club go about gauging members feelings/opinions on how their Club runs or should change etc? Use of HDIDo Club forum?.... anyone with a forum on their Club's members area?
And how successful are they?

We had a forum attached to our website but it was used almost exclusively by a small minority to moan about various things that were wrong with the running of the club. All people who never lifted a finger to do a thing to benefit the club. It was eventually closed down.

Ive seen the individual club ones on Hdid Dave, I'm not sure how well used they are.
I think it would be a good idea to attach a forum to club websites although I'm not sure club committees would think the same once the moaning started.

our club is so far behind technology wise, the website is embarassing, but because the proprietary owner is a technophobe he doesnt want anything more advanced as it only confuses him further. As a committee this ties our hands a great deal sadly (and one of many reasons why im knocking it on the head at the agm this year).

over the last 6 months theres a facebook group, but its an unofficial one where pics of time sheets are posted, roll up times posted etc, oh and the odd toys out of the pram argument lol

Just a question with no axe to grind, if the moans are fair and reasonable, does it matter that the posters don't help out in the club, and shouldn't their complaints be taken seriously - it may be that others aren't brave enough to give an opinion?

We used to have a forum on our website but it was taken down as it was meant to be a trail but it has never re-appeared. I thought it was a good idea, but obviously it didn't take off in the club as a whole. It would be easier for arranging matchplay games, and discussing the club as a whole. But I think with the majority of our membership being of the older generation I think they wouldn't use it. (That's not to say that the older generation don't use technology, but just those at our club do not)

Aye... I suppose moaning is a risk & we get a bit on here but despite that the shared ideas & discussions are invaluable. We have a 'private' FB Page for Tigers, to discuss issues & get opinions to take to the Club

something like this, the secretary will send out mass e-mails to the members when goods are for sale, then each quarter the chairman sends a message by the same, I run the face book page which members also use for information. we have a suggestion/comments book in the locker room which is viewed at each committee meeting
