Anybody ever took a load of golf kit on a train?
Any idea if you need to book it in to one of the carriages? I can't find anything on the website about it.

Cheers

Same as going with a load of suitcases. No need to book. You just hump it on board and search for somewhere to put it. I'd recommend overhead as no one is going to nick it from there and it will be deep enough.

Getting through doors can be an issue :D

I travelled from Germany to Lytham St. Anne's by train with a golf bag last year. No problem. Was even allowed to take it on the Eurostar as normal carry on luggage (even though their official policy states you have to check it for some 35 € extra). All the trains in Britain were okay as well, most of them had relatively large baggage racks in the entrance area of the carriages, so I normally just left it there, but I probably would not do that were my clubs newer or more expensive. They fit well in the overhead bins as well.

Cheers Lord!

Overhead would take a golf bag you reckon??

I wouldn't try it with one of the pro's bags but a normal one should be okay. Hard to give a blanket thumbs up as there are different trains, different builds but based on those I have seen I would say it should be okay.

I've done it often and never even thought to try and book space. I'm always careful to load on the overhead rack as our trains have glass shelves.
