There has been threads now and again that have commented on poor websites not selling clubs very well.

I'd be interested to see what your opinion of the website below it.

Would it make you want to play the courses?

I have to add I have no affiliation with the courses in question but have played both.

Brandon and The Village

I dont like it. Looks out of date and cheaply done.
Whenever I look at a golf course website I want to see lots of images at a large scale of holes on the course, preferably from the air. There are few websites that do this.
The course maps are awful and a quick look at the yardages confirmed it's newly converted fields with far too many short par 4's.
Mickey mouse looking courses imho. I would be looking immediately elsewhere. :(

It is a good website, nice modern design and great homepage with plenty of good pictures but two cons:

1. Course Map isn't great, makes the holes look boringly straight although the water hazards do make it look a lot harder.

2. It might be something to do with my internet but it was hard to find the contact us link which was hidden under pay and play courses heading.

Check this website : www.seapointgolfclub.com :D

The course map on the village golf club looks good though

The websites look like they were designed with frontpage 2000. there is no real gallery of course images and although the core info is there, it is poorly presented.

Well the course map of Brandon looks like a child drew it, the Village one is slightly better, only slightly. The pictures are too small & some of them are silly, who needs to see a golf cart?

It is OK and gets the basic message such as location, prices and contact details across fine. However, other than that there is very little that gives a 'feel' of what the courses are like. As suggested better images would certainly improve it and perhaps some indication of other facilities such as catering, restaurant, bar, visiting parties etc.

Interesting.

Neither course has memebership or a commitee, the clubhouse is a porter cabin. (although the sausage and bacon sandwiches are very nice!)

The pictures, although small, are interesting to me as it makes the courses look better than they actually are!!

I don't personally like Brandon but the Village, albeit a short 9 holes course is challenging.

Having seen their previous website I think this one is very good - that said my five year old could have done better than the original!!!

Not enough info
Not enough pictures (by todays standards)
Course maps may as well be done with a crayon.

Its useful and basic and I have no complaints in that respect but as the OP asks regarding 'selling itself', to me, it is poor.
Would I play there? yes, course I would, if in the area and needed a round, it looks from the limited detail to be a half decent track. ;)

I don't see what the fuss is. Cheap course, cheap website, a private concern offering cheap golf......

They could spend a fortune on the website, but it wouldn't change my mind as to whether it would be worth a visit or not.

this is my personal favourite,

http://www.lesbordes.com/main.php?sound=true/

the pity is, I'll never get to play it

I'd love to play that in the autumn when all the leaves are turning, especially in the early morning light etc, and again near sunset. I bet it would be spectacular.

No prices though! If you have to ask, you can't afford!! :D

Might just pop down one weekend in the Aston. And then off to the St Moritz for a bit of skiing. :( Yeah, right!

Yes - although I'm colourblind, I don't like the colours and the fact that they both seem to try to pack too much onto each page.
Some useful information, however.

I have to say since my course revamped their site from a very poor effort orginally, it has made it a lot more friendly for the passing golfer and members alike. Its not the best by a long chalk but 100% better than before.

As for the OP and their site, its functional and manageable but not overly inspiring. It seems the club is a small affair and knows its market and so has doen enough to please that sector without spending fortunes. As others have said there are far worse out there.
