A good reminder to buy golf insurance.

There is just no deterrent for theft in the UK it seems - dress like a golfer and brazen as you like lift anything that isn't tied down - gits.

I wouldnt count on Golf insurance to cover kit, I use my home insurance for that and the golf insurance just in case some ejit sues if hit or I damage property.

I've made sure my golf policy specifically covers the storage of my clubs in my locker so if it happens I'm good. I've got all my receipts for my kit in a large envelope so no problem with proof of purchase so I'm not sure what else can be done

Nevermind, when they catch them the courts will take into consideration their poor upbringing, lack of love in the family home and let them off with a note telling them not to be naughty again and a £50.00 Mcdonalds voucher.

then after they return from a holiday that you've paid for they'll be given golfing lessons as part of their rehabilitation.

(I quit as a school governor after the LEA insisted on paying for the yobs to have days out and activities just for them.)

You tie this in with the mantra which is coming from most golf clubs of having a more relaxed attitude to visitors and it's open season for these thieving scumbags.

How galling would it be to stand there holding open the swipe card access door for one of these tossers to come in and raid the lockers!??

At least when most golf clubs were stuffy, private places you could spot someone that didn't fit in a mile off. Now we are welcoming everyone (including "people" like them) with open arms.

Let's get back to the days when the old Colonel would chase the undesireables away with his old musket. We could also stop those pesky Professionals from using the clubhouse too!! :D

i still think that for all the money we pay in fees and locker fees the club should have insurance to cover this sort of thing!

Colonel? Only a Colonel?
Please, a General at least :D
And as for the mars bar sellers using the front door.....BAH

I remember some courses where the pro had to enter the clubhouse via the back door or tradesman entrance and wasn't allowed to use the clubhouse facility at all. The Major would have pegged him on the putting green for such insulance. Joking aside though I do think there was a time a few years back when a lot of clubs had a secretary who could be quite fearsome but who also knew the whys and wherefores of everyone coming and going. As a kid I'd think nothing of leaving my bag in the locker room while I had some lunch but these days its in the locker as soon as I'm through the changing room doors.
