Does anybody have any advice they can share on these two courses looking to join somewhere this Spring and these two are top of my list.

Alternatively if you know the area would you recommend somewhere else?

Thanks in advance.

Havent been in that area for a good 10 years, am assuming you are living somewhere in the Broxbourne area. I used to live there and travel a bit further, firstly over to East Herts then latterly over to Enfield where my dad was.

If I was living there these days I think my first consideration would be Brickendon Grange, think it is a far better course than the 2 you have mentioned

There is also canons brook in Harlow a nice course, par 73, i know a few members there, they say a fair few people have moved from nazeing in the last year or so, not played the hertfordshire myself so can't compare

I like Brickendon Grange and my friend works there he speaks highly of the course, I just dont like the winter golf there constantly on temporary greens and suffers longer course closures than others in area. I know this is for the long term benefit of the course but very frustrating all the same for the money they charge.

Canons brook is nice especially the holes on otherside of road but had a unpleasant experience with the course marshall nothing major just left a bad taste in my mouth. Playing off tee and sliced my drive into the trees declared I was going to play provisional and he came over and said we were eplaying to slow....... unnecessary bit of a busy body probably because we were all guests.

I am in Ware so although Enfield isn't to far it would be difficult to get 9 holes in of evening or on limited time at weekends. I played Enfield a few times and its a very nice interesting course but again winter golf suffers here. I haven't played crews hill or bush hill park but due to distance and not knowing any of the members I wouldn't consider those.

Thanks for all your help and suggestions so far guys please keep them coming.

Ok if you are that far across you have a few other options, East Herts (on the A10 towards Buntingford) probably top of them

Chadwell Springs used to be pleasant enough as a 9 hole course but Im sure I heard it had gone bust and/or downhill greatly. Theres also a course at Great Hadham but know little about it

Any more suggestions I drove over Nazeing this weekend and was rather frustrating told that no chance of joining the Saturday morning Swindles. Earliest tee times available Saturday would be midday onwards not very accomodating
