Folks,

Just picked up this GM review of a new product called 'Golf Board'.

Review Here

So, what do you folks think- I'm def in the 'not convinced' camp at the moment and I like a shiney as much as the next man, my Stewart X trolley is a great toy. These seem like a segway, similar money but less flexible and as for carrying and riding one, A&E here we come!

Thoughts?

On warm days or dry days and evening golf you could do a round in 90 minutes I would think. Great for speeding up play if it was compulsory once or twice a week after 7pm say.

Apart from that looks good fun, less damage than a heavy buggy and you can talk to FC's at the same time.

I could see myself hiring one (if it was cheap) but I'd NEVER buy one. Can't see a market for them in the 'boggy UK' where we can't even use a trolley half the year.

Good for younger people I guess but could you see 50-60 year olds buzzing round on them ?

Could be a good disaster waiting to happen with a few lawsuits to follow

Only if there's no-one ahead of you.
At my course- it will be the usual 4+ hours. I prefer a buggy- at least I can sit down while waiting!

On the less damage topic, I was wondering if that was the case in practice.

I wonder if temptation to swerve your way round the course will be too great, I can imagine this will be the case but have never felt the need to drive a buggy in this way?

Re quick round after 7, a agree but what sort of fleet will be required at £3k rrp a pop to achieve this to make a cost effective business case as only a handful of groups with these will be a pita for all so it is all or nothing really. Thinking as i'm typing, perhaps mixed with existing buggy fleet for venues that have those may work as a fun alternative?

Not for me. Looks like a glorified skateboard and I see little point in it. If I want a few holes in the summer sun I want to be out enjoying the course, the views and being out, not zipping around like a teenager. Surprised H&S haven't made helmets manadatory

WHOOOAAAA back right up there Sparky! over £3000 for a trimmed down leccy buggy...........
for that reason, I'm out! unless its a tenner to hire for 1 round.

Was thinking that looks like a bit of fun until I saw the price tag. I'd probably have a go at one if it was £1495 or less.
If it was very hard wearing and didn't cost much to maintain then the price tag may well be justified but doubt I'll see many gracing the links for that money.

Im 67 and think they look great. But that where it ends. Vastly overpriced, if it's was 50 quid more than a motor trolley that would be about right. Would be no good at a few of the courses up our way. To many narrow bridges with no hand rails over valleys and water.

Would love to try one of those and would definitely go for a rental at the right course. With some of the drops and rises at mine it would be a white knuckle ride....gnarly!
