Hi,
A group of us are thinking about booking a 3 day break here, but seeing as we have a couple of 28h/c (at best) we were thinking if this course will be too hard for them.

I have seen a few online reviews saying its very tight off the tee's so before we book, does anyone here play there and if so would a 28 get round ok?

Cheers

It was a while ago, but it didn't seem overly tight off the tee to me.

But I think I was at a pretty tight course or had just come back from links golf, so 'tight' is pretty relative.

28+ are likely to struggle anywhere, so shouldn't really come into the equation for most courses imo. Tough to word that without seeming a bit snobby - it's not intended to be.

I don't remember it being particularly tight and we have some guys in our society who struggle to play to 48 let alone 28!

Cheers for the reply's sounds like it will be fine then. I must add, one of our 28'ers is one of the straightest hitters I know, only goes 120yrs but he is aways on the short stuff, the others are a little waywoad so thats why i was asking, its got to be fun for all.

Cheers

Good facilities, and the course is not that tight. I would normally recommend playing Liphook and Blackmoor if you are in the area, but they are much tighter, lots of heather, and perhaps not for a wayward 28 handicapper.;)

Havent played Old Thorns for nearly 20 years

But from what i can remember of it - would agree with Rich - Blackmoor would be a better round in my humble opinion
