Question for those who either live around the area or for those who have ventured up this far. Me and wifey will be heading for Carnoustie in September, and our second stop off will be in Glenrothes. We will be playing golf on the Sunday and the current selections are :-

Ladybank :- Not sure if we will get on early enough though
Elmswood
Balbirnie

so which one would be the choice? We would like a flatish place Seeing as Carnoustie will be played on the Monday ! :D

Don't know the other two but Ladybank would be my choice, great course. if you are playing Carnoustie wouldn't you rather warm up with a links course, though Carnoustie does have a couple of very unlinks like holes?

You'd think. But what with my mates scare stories, I think I want an easy knock round somewhere easy the day before.

....but would be easier than a links in a gale. Yes ?

Different... the benefit of a links would be at the moment there is no rough to speak of where as at Ladybank the tree's are there all the time.

Monifieth might be a good warm up, easier than Carnoustie anyway;)

Yep, plenty of options round that part of Fife. With plenty of decent shouts already.

Thorntonis benefiting from coring our greens early last year with them playing great this early in the season.

Would also say Aberdour is worth a look.

Aberdour only a shout if ots a dry Sept, Aberdour and rain do not mix well. The idea that chucking a ton of sand on a green helps it drain is a bit daft... but its one of the reaaons I left and went elsewhere.
