just been catching up with some tv after being in hospital and found the interviews with the players regarding the olympic games interesting, now that it is going to be an olympic sport will it come under the same austere drug testing regime as say athletics as i bet a high percentage of the top 100 would fail the tests due to the medications for various illness and injuries they seem to have,i am taking a drug for my heart attack that is classed as a stimulant and is banned but is taken by most people with heart problems and statins are banned how many over weight middle aged golfers take them,or will these just be brushed under the carpet for the chosen few who get to play.

Not really bothered about golf in the Olympics, it would be stupid if it was a bunch of pros though, would be excellent if it was all amateur players... we should definitely have that bandit from the Trilby Tour in our team though!

That would be a good shout.

I believe that if the Olympics is not the pinnacle of your sport it shouldn't be in there. So sports like football, golf, tennis don't really belong.

They could take the opportunity to 'change' the game and put the players on a shot clock.... or make the hole bigger..... or make them play with a standard 'off the rack' set of Slazengers :D

+1 for that! The restrictions of the football do improve the situation somewhat.

I think for golf making it open to amateurs only would be the better way.

It would make sense to limit to amateurs if all olypmic sports were such but the vast majority of the medal winners are professionals dressed up as amateurs to satisfy olypmic rules.
It would be interesting to see how many of the top 100 play in the Olympics if it clashes with some money spinning event such as fed ex play offs?
