Hello.

Was looking to head abroad when I'm off work for a few days or a week at the end of August and was looking at Spain or Portugal but I have a budget of £200-£300 pound (this includes flights - a small budget i know!).

Has anybody played abroad that can give me advice on where's good to play or where I can find the cheapest deals?

Thanks

Welcome to the forum.

Firstly, if you can find ANY deal at the end of August to anywhere abroad for £200 - £300 inc flights, please post it here! Flights alone including golf club transit to Spain / Portugal will eat all of your budget leaving nothing left for accommodation, green fees etc.

As for golfing in Spain or Portugal, I can recommend either. Portugal is a Mecca for golf around Vilamoura but travel further from Faro airport to the Lagos area and you will find green fees and accommodation cheaper and there's some great courses such as Palmeres, Boavista.

As far as Spain is concerned, I've only played in the Costa del sol area, where green fees and accommodation become cheaper the further afield you stay and play from Marbella / Puerto Banus.

Personally, with your budget, I'd look to get a few days in Scotland. Find a cheap b&b and play some great courses up there

Very tough challenge at that money. You would be better staying in the UK and looking for something nice (avoiding Aug bank holiday weekend) on the cost somewhere.

The weather the way it is at present, you'd not be bad looking in the UK.

I would suggest St Mellion, as this would give you access to beaches too. Just like being abroad, and if you go to a really small village pub, you may even hear a foreign language... Cornish!
