I tend to use a glove for most shots then take it off once i'm on the green.

Lately however, I've been having some glove issues. I'd be interested to hear if anyone else has had similar issues and how you solved them.

The issue i'm getting is during the transition between the upswing and downswing. The grip seems slipping slightly from the last two fingers into the palm of the hand leading to a bit of a loose shot.

I decided on the 10th tee that I'd go gloveless for the back nine, and it may have been coincidence but, My scoring was so much better (Front 9 - 12 points, Back 9 - 20points).

Certainly for the time being, I'll be playing without a glove. Who else plays without and have you had any issues with hard skin/calluses?

Thanks

Phil

I haven't used a glove for past year. Has made no difference to me. Happened by pure chance, I'd gone down to tee off at 15th on home course and left glove on top of bag. Couldn't be bothered going back for it, hit a fine drive and just never bothered putting it on for rest of round

I have a pair of footjoy rain gloves I'll put on if things get wet

Been playing a lot this year and noticed I had a tanned right hand and a left that was pale grey (i'm from Newcastle so pale grey is my default shade). Stopped wearing the glove about 1 month ago and two things have happened - I now have a matching pair of sun kissed hands and my handicap has come down to 11.2. Is it coincidence?

Tried this before and I reckon it boils down to what you do as a job. Work in an office and have mamby pamby hands like me and it's glove all day long. Do something manual that firms up your hands and you're probably good to go.

I'd be covered in blisters if I did it.

Interesting stuff. I am not sure I could play without a glove, even with I cut chunks of hard skin off my hands on a weekly basis. I was always lead to believe that you cannot grip as well without a glove but seems some of the guys of this thread are seeing the opposite.

After a long preactice when I when I am waring down I tend to hit a few gentile ones without a glove and it just hurts.

play golf every day for a week or two and you wont need a glove.

over winter if I miss a weekend or two my hands soften up a bit. I have two little calluses on the inside of my ring fingers.

always hated wearing a glove. now ill only put one on if its lashing!

I never use a glove......gave it up years ago when having problems with grip etc.....never looked back and save loads not having to buy new gloves.....

I'm not that bothered about wearing a glove in the summer because my hands are sticky enough to get away without one, but I always use one in the winter because I can't grip it so well.

As for calluses , I havent had any yet .

Never wear a glove except a pair of Macwets when it's tipping down. Always worked in an office and never had a blister or a callus.

Same as a few others mate ive never worn one , i do have a pair of wet gloves for bad days but it has to be bad , and then i only wear the left one
only problem ive encountered is with sweaty hands, wash them before i head out and during the round if i can usually sorts it
