God save the King

The PM said Charles III, I read somewhere.

Will they have prepared so mething at the Bank of England or Royal Mail already?
The civil contingencys unit already have a full plan for this event. Absolutely every eventually has already been planned. For example, if the Queen had passed on Christmas day they wouldn't let the public know until the 27th (first non public holiday day)

Daughter was telling me that when the new coins are struck with King Charles on them the heads will face the opposite direction to Queen Elizabeth II as has been common practice for centuries. ?

Just thinking, I wonder if they’ll still sing “gold save the queen” for a while to come ?
I’d hope not formally (actually not a chance) as I‘d say it would be incredibly disrespectful as well as rather meaningless. What fans might sing…well fans sing all sort of stuff - but again I’d hope not.

Unless of course protocol is that we sing GSTQ at her funeral and commemoration services…dunno.

His mother came to the throne as a young woman as we emerged from a time of great struggle and austerity to a time of prosperity and hope as we re-built a nation with better and affordable homes for families to live better lives.
He comes to the throne as an old man as we enter a time of declining standards of living and unaffordable homes for working people. None of this is his fault. I hope God will save him.

One positive that may come out of this sad occasion is that Charles is known for his forthright ecological views.

There will be many people who have only ever seen the Queen's head on UK coinage and notes.

I look back to when I was up to my mid 20s when the coins in circulation had every 20th century monarch on the depending on the coin. We will continue to see the Queens head on our money for many years.

Queen Elizabeth I reign - one of the most glorious in our history.
Queen Elizabeth II reign - one of the most glorious in our history.

King Charles I reign - notable for a beheading.
King Charles II reign - notable for a beheading (of Cromwell's dead body).
King Charles III reign - (let's hope for no more beheadings).
