I was fitted for MP-54s with KBS stiff shafts. I bought 3 MP-T4 wedges with KBS Hi-Rev shafts in stiff flex through my pro shop. It was love at first sight:D

Well, the club's arrived yesterday but unfortunately I didn't get to give them a proper testing. Went up the club though and picked up the three MP-T4 wedges from the shop that had also been delivered yesterday. I am now the proud owner of a full set of Mizuno irons and wedges.

Went up the club for a game this afternoon and what a result, first time out on the course with the new sticks and I managed a 1 over 71. Only missed 3 greens all day. If the greens had not been tined this week it would have been much better. The highlight was hitting the flag stick on the par 3 8th hole with a 6 iron. The ball never left the flag and hit the stick full on the fly about 2 feet above the hole. I then made the 10 footer for a birdie.

Making the move from regular to stiff shafts has certainly tightened my dispersion, with no loss of distance and the flight of the ball is marginally lower than I have been used to.

First Impressions are better than I could have dreamed of, when flushed it feels like you are hitting a squash ball, you just do not feel anything on the club face. The irons sit beautifully behind the ball and look very similar to my old KZG's, although the top edge is probably marginally thicker than I am used to seeing at address.

The KBS shafts are a little heavier than I have been used to for the last 13 years so it might take a few rounds before I don't actually notice this difference when I am swinging the club. I am really looking forward to getting a few more rounds under my belt as the confidence with them can only get better.

The real test will come when I play my first competition, and hopefully by the end of the year I can eek at least another 1 shot from my handicap.

Bring on the summer.

I've got the same clubs with the same shafts and they did feel a little strange to me with the slightly heavier shafts at first but you soon get used to it.

Like you said the feel you get when you hit it out of the middle is amazing, seriously so soft.

Nice to hear Steve, can't wait to see them in action at some point :D

Looking forward to it So. Hopefully by then I will have gotten fully used to them, or the honeymoon period will have worn off and they will be getting the blame for the occasional bad shot.

Great news Steve, we do love it when a plan comes together

I'm also considering getting some matching Mizuno wedges, so let me know how the T4s play.

Taking them out for their second outing tomorrow. I am playing at Broadstone. This is not my home course, but one that I know very well so I should get a better idea of how the new clubs perform.

Well I took the clubs out for their second outing yesterday. Played in a society match around Broadstone off the white tees. Format was 4BBB so not a "true" test but at least I got some more feedback on how the clubs performed. Scored 31 points in a tricky wind, and on greens that were very hard, slow and bouncy and not running very true at all. This caused 1 three putt and quite a few approach putts were at least a foot short. I lost one ball off the tee which was nothing to do with the irons. (Just missed a fairway left and lost it in the long grass).

The major difference that I have noticed with the new irons is that it is almost impossible to make the ball go right with a bad swing. So far all my misses have been left of where I have been aiming. With my old clubs (regular flex shafts) I would occasionally lose a shot to the right, (with a seemingly good swing), which is not good when you are aiming at a pin that is tucked in tight to the right side of the green.

So far I am very impressed with the change from regular to stiff shafts, and the feel that you get when the clubs are hit. I wasn't expecting the feel to be much different from my old KZG forged clubs, but the difference is very noticeable, especially when a shot is flushed. First medal on Saturday so hopefully my handicap will take a turn in the right direction.

Jake, the MP-T4's are definitely worth a hit. Great feel and sound on full hits with plenty of stop and spin. A classic looking shaped wedge when they are behind the ball. I have them fitted to KBS Hi-rev shafts which are just slightly heavier than the shafts in my irons but all the other specs are exactly the same. Around the green they are pretty good for the delicate shots, and can be opened without changing the way they lie.

There are not too many choices to choose from either, unlike the new SM5's, which have so many grinds that it can get a bit confusing when deciding which wedge(s) you want.

Definitely worth a look if you like Mizuno forged clubs.

Had the club's for a week now and today was their first proper test in a club medal. I think I can safely say that the irons will be in the bag for a while. Scored a 2 over gross for a 0.1 cut, could have been better but I doubled the 16th. Par 5 and made a mess with my 3 wood second shot so new irons not to blame. Came 4th which is a bummer but I would have taken that score stood on the first tee.

Two months on and the club's are still performing well. Played in a 4BBB medal yesterday and broke my personal best score with a five under gross. My partner came in on two holes, the first where he parred before me, and the third because he had a shot and I didn't. We were 10 under nett and in second place when I left the club:(
