Morning all,

This is a slightly different opportunity to usual but should be good fun. We have just started doing a little bit of work with a company called 60/60 golf. To keep a long story short, their simple idea is to try and make the driving range experience a little more fun by adding a genuine element of competition. They start by standardising driving ranges so they all have the same targets at the same distances. Customers then download the 60/60 golf app and there are a host of different 'courses' you can play as you hit balls on the range. Basically, each shot is hit to a different target and you score points for how close you get. The app then records your scores and your stats.

It is all a bit of fun, some of you may well have tried it - I tested it out a couple of weeks ago and thoroughly enjoyed it. So, they are keen to introduce the GM forum to the idea and so we are going to host an event at Sandown Park range on Wednesday April 10th.

This date was selected as it is the day before the Masters kicks off and they are going to create some Augusta themed challenges. We will split everyone into teams of four (there will also be a GM staff team) and we will be offering some pretty good prizes at the end.

A couple of things... We only have spaces for 12. The event will start at 6.30pm and will be done and dusted by 9. We will be providing refreshments.

If you would like to be considered, please email me directly: neil_tappin@ipcmedia.com

One more thing, this obviously is a SE only opportunity. However, this was where 60/60 wanted it staged. If the evening proves to be a success we will try and set up a similar affair somewhere further north.

Thanks,
Neil

Spookily enough I just came across them last week and thought it looked fun at the range.

Nice opportunity by GM yet again and sounds a good fun night, good luck any who enter.

Another great opportunity by GM, but sadly once again for forum members in the south

Thanks,

I think Neil already explained the reasons , GM got the oppertunity but its the providers or sponsors who will determine the location & as he says if it is a success they will look into others ..

Sounds like a good incentive by 60/60 & fair play to GM for getting 12 places for the forum , fact it will have a masters theme & be team event sounds like fun

Good Luck to those picked have fun & enjoy the prizes ( oh & bragging rites if you beat team GM)

Nice opportunity but too far for even us in the Midlands to come :(

Speaking as a proud midlander I wish to object to this post that portrays us midlanders as a bunch of travel shy fops who regard anything south of the Watford Gap as being full of humourless shandy drinking southerners who pay £5 a pint. Which it is, but that's not the point.

Living in the outskirts of Nottingham as I do, I for one would be more than willing to travel to such far flung places such as the other side of Nottingham, Leicester, Derby and even Birmingham (well the north of Birmingham anyway) for such an opportunity. So please do not tar us all with the same brush.

They have this stuff at the local range now and it does give you something to go for. You can challenge people , go for targets and using the app record the results and a score.

A new twist on the range and for me the short game challenge is the best thing as you can track and monitor your scores and (hopefully) improvement over the weeks.

Look forward to a Northern challenge

If all goes well next Wednesday, and there is an app for the shots etc as discussed in the OP, this could be a great way to challenge different people in different places. As an example - North vs Midlands Vs South. Scotland vs England vs Ireland v Wales.

Imagine it? One Wednesday night the teams travel to their respective ranges, and via the wonderful world of the web, compete at targets etc? That would be a grand event. Maybe I'm just dreaming though...
