Morning all

hope you all got a game or two in over Easter and didn’t eat too much chocolate...

I was pleased to note things settled down over the weekend and everyone managed to get on. I don’t know if that was a reaction to my threats or everyone just taking stock on what went before and realising certain behavior isn't conducive to a happy forum. Whatever the reason it was good to see.

As a result of the above there will be a new opportunity for the forum posted later on today and more are in the pipeline if things stay as they are

I will be posting an updated set of rules/guidelines this week but as of now the forum is being officially moderated again. Please remember the moderators (all appointed by me) are not paid to undertake what is a vital role any forum and they are using their judgment to decide on what are rarely a clear cut issues. Please respect their position

Going forward (and this will be outlined in the updated guidelines) if you have any gripes about moderation of your posts then direct it to me - my email is below - and I will consider the issue and respond to you. Please do not post your grievance on the forum. This is standard practice on many forums.

In the interim if I leave you all with one thought and it's this...

What constitutes banter or abuse on a forum fundamentally comes down to your relationship with the person you’re exchanging 'views' with. The better you know them closer to the line you can go. Having a pop or taking the rise out a mate is banter, the same to someone you don’t know on any other level than simply being registered for the same forum as them is fundamentally abuse and that can't and won't be tolerated

In golfing terms - we after all a golf forum so hopefully everyone can relate to this analogy - the tone of your conversation and the language you'd use when playing with mates in your regular fourball is very different to what you'd say to someone you’ve never played with before.

Use that as a yardstick and you wont go far wrong

Thanks
Mike

Agreed!

I was away for the most of the weekend so only caught up last night / this morning. Was pleased to see everyone playing nicely and some really interesting threads :)

Looks like we might even get some better weather this weekend a reward for the good behviour!

Well done lads. Mike do you have any idea why Iam having trouble logging in on apple devices?

I had probs over the weekend was phil's post ref turning DST setting off that sorted it.

Glad peace and goodwill is restored and look forward to more great GM opportunities.

Whilst I don't disagree with this statement, we also have to consider that whatever we post on a public forum is exactly that, public and while comments may be acceptable between mates, other people can and will be offended by the contents of said comment.

Anyhow, it's good to hear everyone played nicely over the weekend, long may it ocntinue
