I know i half started the ball rolling on this but i need to pass the baton on as i have far too much on currently to give this the time and effort it needs/deserves.

It's still a blank canvas if anyone fancies having a go.

What this needs is a venue, but more importantly, a good deal.

Mike did us an amazing turn 2 years ago- maybe an up-and-coming course is looking for a little GM exposure?

Thought that was just a regional qualifier, the same as Woburn & Trump :D

Val, did you get as far as talking to venues?

No as I've had tonnes on. I did have both Leeds venues in mind (Alwoodley and Moortown) with the thought of Alwoodley Sat PM and Moortown Sunday morning.

The issues I thought would hold this back were medals. Alwoodley has around 40-50 playing medals weekly on a Saturday so chances are we could have been accommodated on Sat PM given there is the potential of 40 or so green fees plus food and drinks.

That's as far as I got.

Have an idea for a format that might just float. Would be prepared to help set up if there was help from down south so...

2 regional qualifiers, South and North (suggest border around derby). Each qualifier organised independently (venue / format / etc.. (

Top 12 / 16 from each qualifier form team to play in a North / South Ryder Cup style 18 holer (at a fair location). Individual winner on the day is forum champion.

When did the north south border become Derby? I suppose it might be if you don't include folk from Scotland

Maybe he's a Jacobite and that's how far they got in they got in 1745, so claiming the border from there?

Last I noticed you lot bottled your independence vote so Scotland would still be, very much, in the mix.

I suppose I could have got a map out, or called Ordnance Survey, but it was waaay past my bedtime by then! !!

That's ok - we don't actually know where Derby is other than somewhere in the deep south near London.

So, some of you think Derby is in the Deep South, others think it's in the Northern Industrial Heartlands. But what I want to know is, which half of the draw do I represent - or do I set up my own Autonomous Borderland Region?

Do you feel more Northern then Southern ?
I dont think North v South is going to work, its even more planning for somebody. There was going to be a Yorkshire event but not sure who was going to organise it.

Depends who I'm talking to!

There is already a list of the regions, venues used and names of the local organisers , search the king of kings qualifiers and reviews thread back in 2014.
I'm smiling after reading some of the reviews.
