Right, bored at the in laws. Time to have a chat with you guys.
Decided to set up the GM golf awards for new golf equipment, so what do you reckon has been -

1) Best driver - HTL needs more time to think
2) Irons - Mizuno mx200
3) Wedges - Titleist Vokey
4) Putter - Taylor made rozza spider
5) Shoes - Adidas 360 3.0
6) Ball - DX2 - PX3

* Golfer of the year - Harrington

* New golfer - A. Kim

* Knob of the year - Boo Weekly (riding his driver at Ryder Cup won it for him)

I will count up the votes and return the results in a few days.

HTL, you don't think your own results are a bit biased towards your current bag/equipment?

Golfer of the year: Poulter (world number 2, so who else is there to choose?)

Knob of the year: Woods (who else would play with a broken leg?)

Rookie: Chris Wood

Equipment:

Driver: Cobra L5V (pensioners only, but for them, a class driver).

Irons: Ping Rapture 2 (ugly as, but probably the irons most of us need, rather than the shiny forgings we all like).

Wedges: Vokey spin milled in less than 58°. Higher lofts should be banned, or excluded from the awards.

Putter: Scotty studio select newport 1.5.

Ball: ProV1.

Shoes: Footjoy classics (purple and white wing tips).

Oh yeah, and disappointment of the year, not winning the RC narrowly pips my finishing the year on 11.7, exactly where I started back in January.

Hey HTL don't knock Boo, we need more like him. A breath of fresh air in the game and a damn good golfer too.
Riding the bull was funny, anyone who has seen Happy Gilmore knows where he took it from.

Boo is older, fatter and balder than your average pro but couldn't give a s&%t, he knows how blessed he is to be able to make the kind of money he does and appreciates that fact - some of us can relate to that!
He's not your typical wingeing tour pro who wants for nothing yet still complains.

He has bags more personality than just about any current US or European Tour pros, I for one welcome that.

Hope he sticks around.

It is a little biased towards my bag but I think that equipment is the best so that's why its there.

Still not a Boo fan, but can se where your coming from I just find him annoying, and cant stand his voice.

I Thought about Robert Karlsson as Golfer of the Year, but chose Harrington due to his two Majors. Karlsson has shown a fair bit more in the way of consistency and I do hope he can carry that forward into next season. Either Robert Karlsson or Henrik Stenson are the most likely Europeans to win a Major in 2009 as far as I'm concerned. Both now have the maturity in their game to be able to win a Big One.

Yeah, the 2 major wins were great but there was little if nothing else from him. I realise there must have been a lot of side effects from these wins but a certain other person has managed multiple major wins alongside dominating the domestic season. Karlssons all round consistency including decent major performances swung it for me.
