Serious question this because I know longer use one having have done previously.

I will use FJ wet gloves if its raining but nothing when dry.

My take on it is they help with grip, however with grips being so good these days are gloves really needed.

Stopped years ago. actually feels weird now when I put one on in the rain.

Best way to get a golfers tan too

But in answer I believe I need it for grip.
I guess if I had to play without it I'd eventually get used to it and build tougher skin on the contact/rub points etc but scoring would go down while that happened
I sometimes take a club down to the beach for some swing exercise (gloveless) and it doesn't take long to feel the early signs of a blister

I didn't wear one for 50 years but slight arthritis in the fingers made it harder to grip the club. Wearing a left hand glove certainly improves the grip, the leather of the glove sticker to the rubber grip really well. Don't think I could play as well now without one.

Just about every pro wears one, which speaks volumes. The left hand grip is by far the more important, the right hand doesn't do much more than guide the club.

I can only speak from personal experience but I prefer to wear a glove as I suffer from sweaty hands.

I also use corded grips for the same reason.

I never asked when I began playing I just saw that everyone else does so followed suit. It's so familiar for me I doubt I'd play without one nowadays.

For me it just stops a few blisters.

I only use it when playing full rounds for full shots.

Totally don't bother when going round the par 3 though as I don't
seem to get the blisters there.

I certainly would not give up the GG winter playing gloves or the MacWets but could go without the normal one if necessary.

Better grip, stops blisters. They don't cost much and one glove will last me a full season. Hardly a burden to buy in comparison to everything else I buy golf wise.

You hand has a natural defence against blisters and develops calluses to protect the hands.

If I don't swing club for a month my hands go soft and can get blisters from lots of play and practice. They soon toughen up.

Rory posted pics of his blisters on twitter after a period of rest from the game.

Sorry but it's 'their'. I was immediately drawn in. As for gloves, they wear them on telly so therefore I must wear one too.

Yup, that's me as well.

Always worn a glove on my left hand playing, if I turned up at my course and forgot to pack my glove I would actually go and buy a new one, interestingly though I frequent the gym often and notice I get blisters on both hands anyway because I don't use gloves in the gym.

Let's see: when it is hot outside, my hands get a bit sweaty and the glove helps me to get a better grip. When it is raining, my hands get wet and the glove helps me to get a better grip. When it is cold, I have almost no feeling in my fingers, and the glove keeps them warmer and helps me to get a better grip. The other 5 days of the year I could probably do without one ... no, just kidding. When I don't wear a glove, I feel like I have to hold on to the grip much tighter to avoid slipping. It just does not feel right.
