Just got confirmation from the guy organising our annual Rest of the World vs Sweden tournament playing the above courses and staying in Ayr beginning of June.

Anyone got any comments on the courses?

Also thinking of a maybe travelling up the day before and getting a round in en-route and one in the morning, maybe round Glasgow Gailes, before the enemy arrive lol

only played Dundonald of these three and have to say I was massively dissapointed with it. Clubhouse is a portakabin and the holes just didn't stand out for me. Was told some years back that the Dundonald was originally built with an eye for hosting the Scottish Open...there's a reason it's going to Castle Stuart.
You would be much better trying to get Barassie which is right next to the Dundonald
Just my 2 cents

You must be aff yer heid!

Barassie better than Dundonald???? No way never, not in a million years.

What were you expecting to be massively disappointed, its a superb track, par 3's and par 5's are superb, most of the par 4's are also excellent. The first is the poorest hole. I think its an excellent track and a great test of golf.

As for the portakabin, its the best portakabin I've ever been in. There is an issue on planning and design for the clubhouse.

Barassie is the poor relation in that stretch by a long way, the old original 18 at Barassie are better than the new 9 which are just a boring featureless slog in my opinion.

Played at Glasgow gails three years ago, great course best greens I have ever played on.

You will enjoy it, the members were very friendly too.

3 great courses in my opinion. Prestwick is a love or hate course a bit like St Andrews for me but I love it.

I would have to agree with (The Craw)with the comments about Dundonald 1 of the best courses I have played but again that is my opinion.

I am a member of Irvine GC (Bogside)I work shifts but if you want a game before or after your outing please get in touch.

I am earlyshift Monday to Friday when you come up so anytime after 4pm and backshift the week starting the 6th so early morning as I start at 2pm.The golf club web site is down at the moment but it should be up and running soon.

Re: Glasgow Gailes, Old Prestwick & Dundonald Links

Finally played Dundonald yesterday despite staying less than 5 minutes away. Was invited by friends who have taken out membership. Course was in great condition and enjoyed the relative isolation of each hole.
What a portakabin, most luxurious one I have been in as well.
Have to agree that the new holes at Barassie are nowhere near as good as Dundonald, despite being formed from the same land.
Desparate to go back now, even scored 30 points which was great for me :)
