Glad I'm not playing today

Nobody's playing at my place - got the email had an hour ago, closed until further notice. We had some serious rain last night, more due today and tomorrow - chance we could be shut until next week.
It's windy but not horrific, just so wet.

I just can't see when the full 18 is going to be open at our place! We're right next to the River Mole so the water table is only around 15-20 cm's below ground level at the best of times. Front 9 is underwater whilst the back 9 is just very wet. Just when you think that you're through the worst of it another wave of rain and we're back to square one!

Same for us. Can't see us being open at the weekend even on the front nine. I think I might actually have to go to the driving range it's so bad.

I am so lucky playing on a course with limestone just below the surface. The course has been closed less than three days this winter & I've played on temporary greens once. Every tee bar two are proper tees, some as far back as the medal tees. And all for less than £700 per year! Sorry if this post makes some of you tear your hair out.

That's no way to make friends

Due to be playing at Epsom on Saturday. Fully open apparently but the forecast is shocking. Doubting the wisdom of an hours trip to head out in heavy rain showers and strong winds and having to pay for the "pleasure". Tempted to postpone and hit the range or work on my wedge distances on the practice ground

Wish I was playing as although a bit gusty at times the suns out again and it's dry. Shouldn't moan as I did get out yesterday and it was dry and sunny then.

I love playing when the wind is up. I always seem to play better

We've been open since the weekend. The weekend was a little boggy, but plenty playable. We've had little rain since Saturday but the wind has been up, and has been relentless.

Hopefully it will help to dry the course out

Homer, being up on the downs Epsom has great drainage so I doubt you'll face issues on that front....downside is that being up high you'll be open to the elements and with the wind that's getting going at the moment you'll have an experience!!

It doesn't happen very often but today is one of those days, I'm actually glad I'm in the office (maybe "the lounge" should be renamed!) and not on the course, it's vile out there!

Very au fait with Epsom. We played before Christmas in biblical rain and had to stop for thunder and lightning at one point, sadly no where near the top of the downs and a chance to adjourn to the Winning Post pub. It coped admirably then and my mate has said how well it has held up. It is more the thought of the journey, forking out the green fees and going out in pouring rain and wind. Not sure it's worth that much effort to get a game. It's not my favourite course although a challenge with the small contoured greens and the wind blowing

Supposedly playing East Devon on Saturday. If I put my brolly up, I could be in France for 18 holes in the afternoon.

Surely these storms have to end soon!!??

We were open last weekend in a manner of speaking. We have very good drainage on parts of the course and not on others. We do, however, have 27 holes and so the club have created a composite 18 holes each day picking those in the best condition. Sadly I have been unable to play due to tendonitis but should be back in action this weekend. The only issue will be the comp on Sunday as if we have to use a composite 18 then it will not be a qualifier.

We got a note from the groundstaff that a couple of days ago was the first day since December 10th that the course hasn't had any rain for 24 hours. This has been followed by torrential rain ever since. I'm blaming him.

Had something similar the year before last. Club Captain gave a speech mentioning that the lakes were low and that we may not have enough water to use on the course all year. Following day it started to rain and hardly stopped for 3 months.
