Returned from the Belfry to find many of our neighbours have moved out, and their downstairs possesions are on the drive. Googled Saltburn floods - WOW!!

We've been lucky. Next door had it through their downstairs, as have the 3 houses opposite and the 4 houses at the end of the cul-de-sac. Just finished jet washing the lawns and drive.

Looking at the tide mark, we got within an inch of it getting into the house... the garage hasn't faired so well, and a number of items are in next door's skip.

Our neighbours have been told they should be back in by Christmas...:(

Does your road flood regularly? A number of areas near us have been badly flooded in recent years by the River Severn. We don't have a problem as we live at quite a high altitude but I did go to an exhibition a few years ago that showed some of the ways to secure property. This was one of the companies demonstrating, their products looked quite simple and effective.

I saw a video yesterday of the bridge down near the seafront where the river goes into the sea and it looked really bad.

Sorry to hear that. Even if its just the garage it is still a pain in the backside. I always feel gutted when I see pictures of ruined houses on the news and lost personal possessions. Hope everyone can get back to a semblance of normality soon

Got flooded at home about a month ago the day warm weather broke, then the week after went on holiday to Wales and after 3 days the cottage we are in got flooded. So in one of the best summers for a long time I've been flooded twice.

Not nice, but we got away with it pretty well as it just went onto slate floors and not carpets at home. Others near me were a lot worse off, horible to hear people who have to leave their houses for months to allow it to dry.

Just googled it, only affecting people up north so nothing to worry about ;)

Seriously though, lucky escape and hope everyone gets sorted out quickly. Can't imagine how distressing something like that must be :(
