Just caught up with last nights boxing action from the states.

This guy is seriously talented and probably pound for pound second best boxer on the planet. The power he generates in his punches is scary and I can understand why opponents are avoiding him.

I think he'll have to step up in weight in order to be matched in a 'super' fight. Would love to see him take on Froch even though Froch has said he wouldn't fight him.

Anyone else see it?

Yes. I'm a big fan of triple G. He's a classical looking fighter with phenomenal power. Devastating upper cut and an over the top left hook carrying massive power finished the fight.

The only fight at his weight is Cotto but they don't see Cotto taking it on as he may drop down. This leaves GGG to either go up to Froch, Ward, etc. or down to welterweight with Khan, Pacman, Floyd, etc. Can't see anyone, even Floyd taking him on. So, I agree, it leaves just moving up.

You've missed a weight class there. He'd go down to light middle.

Don't think many at light middle would fancy it. Apparently Ward wants it who is by far the best in the super middle weight division.

Sorry, I wasn't very clear there. I was badly trying to say he could move down to get the mega names, assuming that they fancy chunking up. Can't see it though.

Froch v Golovkin in Vegas would tick many boxes...but that's not going to happen!

Ive watched this guy through the amateurs in 2003 he did a job on everyone in the amatuer finals he stopped Bute and gave lessons to Andy lee and Korobov he really is an ATG in the making, he shouldnt even be fighting at 160 when he walks around at 165.

Its a real shame there is no real competition for him at 154 or 160 and I include Floyd Mayweather in that. Froch would be a decent fight but GGG would take over late Andre Ward would be interesting as well but come fight night they would both have over 16 lbs weight advantage.

Another good performance from GGG last night against a durable Martin Murray. Rumours of a Froch or Chavez match up on the horizon, he beats them both IMO.

Good to see more boxing on terrestrial tv. Even if the production was poor

Have to agree mate, I watched the Smith fight on Sky first , then found everything apart from the fight poor on 5.

Thought GGG fought within himself and totally dominated Murray who gave a good account of himself.

Wasnt it just, it was bordering on cringeworthy - the flag girls, the boxers not knowing where they should be for the walk on, the floor manager for the walk on and I think it was the same floor manager in the ring bollocking the camera man for being 'in shot' when the winner was announced.

Back to GGG and I'm nowhere near a boxing expert but blimey, that fella can hit. His demeanour, composure, ability and sheer attitude alone is worthy of his belts and that's before he's landed a body shot. It's a shame he's 33(?) but looking at him, he's a machine and has another 4/5 years left in him for sure.

Re last night, I think GGG could have stepped it up more and was no way in 6th gear. I was expecting much more from Murray.

Agree with above about coverage: after the Lord Mayor's parade came the dustcart show.

Thought GGG's head punches weren't as good as I've seen in previous fights but the bodywork was immense. He also took a few on the chin flush but never took a step back.

Where's next though? Cotton doesn't seem interested so a move up on the cards?

Looking forward to Pascal v Kovalev next week.

Yes I got the feeling he could have just stepped it up at any point and ended the fight. Maybe that's taking away from the durability of Murray a bit but looked like GGG was in 3rd gear.

when Murray was taunting him throughout the fight there was only going to be one winner although Murray gave a decent account of himself he was only sticking it out for pride , a step beyond him unfortunately but maybe a diffrent career path if he got the result he deserved against Felix Sturm.
