Getting across the line at the top of my swing

I've been playing golf for several years now and have seen numerous golf pro's about getting across the line at the top of my swing causing me too hit big hooks and pushes. Finally i have managed to fix it with the help of this tip, it turns out that the cause of my across the line move was because I was coming to far inside on the takeaway. Anyway, thought I would share the tip if anyone else is struggling with the same problem
