Hi. I purchased a ping anser 3 putter a few years ago on ebay and thinking of selling as I now have a new ping TR anser 2 in the bag.

The anser 3 has been re gripped. On the back it has PING (registered) on the heel and ANSER 3 (registered) on the toe. Then on back of the face it has:

KARSTEN
PHEONIX AZ 8502 (8, 9 OR 0)
MADE IN U.S.A.

Hard to see what final number is as stamp not clear...

Any ideas if a genuine Ping putter?

Worked well over the years but don't want to sell if dodgy....

Take it to a pro and see what they say if you are unsure. Also if you sell a bit on ebay and you are not sure, then worth asking yourself if it worth the hassle of a bad ebay reputation if it does turn out to be dodgy for the sake of a few quid.

Pretty sure that will be a 0 (zero) or a 9.

That's actually the zip code of the factory. Both models hail from 1974 on. While old, they are not rare, nor (generally) particularly valuable.

Nothing in your description suggests that it is not genuine - nor that it is actually genuine, but it probably is. There are far more worthwhile things to counterfeit than old 'run-of-the-mill' Pings!

I think you can contact the manufacturer and give them the numbers as I think they will have all certified products listed by serial number. Please don't quote me on that but It sounds right to me.
